We had the good fortune of connecting with Jonpaul Pezzo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jonpaul, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
This is something I feel is super important to living a enjoyable life, even though I am not the best at this balance I think it is very important for us to unplug and take time to ourselves. I recently have been able to unplug more on the weekends and I try to live without my phone the hour before bed and the first hour after I wake up. I read many studies on how this affects the brain and our thought process throughout the day. Unfortunately my industry is a 24/7 one so I also have learned to trust the staff that I hire to do the jobs they are qualified to do. This afford me more piece of mind knowing that everything is being taken care of while I try to relax.

What should our readers know about your business?
I run a nightlife marketing and promotion company based in NYC, one of the toughest markets in a industry that resonates across the globe. The music industry is one that requires a constantly energetic approach towards fresh ideas and keeping up with the joneses, As we get older it becomes harder and harder so what separates myself and my company apart from others is that we constantly have our ear to the ground to make sure we up on the hottest acts and venues and keep it fresh for the younger generation and next demographic of customers.

To get to where I am took alot of dedication and time, I have missed almost every major holiday and family event going back 20 years. weekends are non existent for relaxing and during the week you are busy making sure the weekends are sold out. You really have to accept giving up all your personal time to give it your all.

I have learned many lessons along the way, mostly that nothing will surprise me anymore.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am from NYC so a week in NY is something that will blow some peoples minds. I would start by taking them to the center of the world time square. Nothing like seeing someone face react to this when they come from other parts of the world. its truly awe inspiring. Between this, the one and off bus tours and a few days spent exploring the city main attractions like the bronx zoo, the coney island aquarium and of course the bustling nightlife of clubs like Musica NYC.

as for restaurants there are so many in NYC. but have to send people to some of the most popular like Catch Steak or Tao for a night out after you dine. For me my favorite is Italy in the city to get some authentic italian and items to take home also.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
If I have to pick one thing that influenced me throughout all the business journies it would be Tony Robbins. I took his course with an open mind being a natural skeptic of such speakers. It was an amazing experience and some of the lessons taught I can still apply towards my daily mindset.
