We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan & Jenna Berman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jordan & Jenna, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The thought process in the beginning was us wanting to do something that was for us, rather than for someone else. We wanted to work to build up our own dream, not someone else’s. We always knew that we wanted to “be our own boss,” but it took both of us having real-world jobs to really understand how badly we wanted that for ourselves.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We are in the business of selling cookies. But, our packaging sets us apart everyone else in the cookie business. We put so much thought and time into the design of our packaging because we wanted people to enjoy a “gourmet” cookie experience. To us, the only thing better than receiving something in the mail, is a memorable experience while opening that “thing.” That’s what we did with our cookies. Our journey hasn’t been easy and is still far from over. There are so many little problems that come up in the day-to-day life of a business owner. You definitely don’t anticipate it when you jump into a business having no prior experience in running a business! Every problem seems like the end of the world at first, but then you realize it’s just part of the ride. Something we’ve learned over time is to always expect the unexpected; that things will rarely ever go exactly as planned. However, despite the rollercoaster of a ride that it’s been, we wouldn’t change a thing. Every day is a new day, a new learning experience and a new opportunity. If we had to choose one thing for the world to know about us, it’s that we’re two, incredibly close sisters who took our love for baking with our mom and turned it into a business. Without these amazing memories in the kitchen with her, and our dad’s entrepreneurial career path, we’re not sure we could’ve ever made it this far. Oh!…. and that there is much more to come!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Whenever our best friends come into town, we of course take them to our favorite restaurants (Niayara, Novikov, Thatch and Milos to name a few). For hanging out on a Saturday or Sunday, you could likely find us at sitting in South Pointe Park eating lunch from Pura Vida or enjoying the view at The Deck at Island Gardens. We would probably also take them on a boat ride during their stay here – we love using Vandutch Go for our boat rentals.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people that have contributed to where are. We would give the most credit to our family though. We are truly so blessed to be surrounded by such an amazing support system. Our mom, dad, step-parents, brother, brother’s girlfriend and our boyfriends have all contributed significantly to our success thus far.
