We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan Solomon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jordan, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
A quote that I say to myself every day is “1% Better Everyday”
What does it mean?
A few years back I was in a relationship that ended tumultuously and it affected my self-confidence and mindset. Among other things, my dad suffered a stroke that greatly affected my mom and I. These two obstacles became life-changing for me among other things that followed. Some days felt like a great weight was on my shoulders that I managed to carry and other days I felt stagnant.
After reading a few books on understanding emotional awareness and knowing your mind, I told myself that if I could just get a little bit better each day, I would achieve success in so many areas of my life. All it took was focusing on the one percent of it all. I began to exercise more frequently which helped my stress, I began to journal daily and later checked myself into therapy so I could learn to master my emotions and develop maturity as well as accountability in my relationships.
My life started to change in a way that I didn’t recognize myself. I continue to pray and just hope that I stay on track given my baggage.
“1% Better Everyday” is what gets me through my toughest days as a son, creative, caretaker, boyfriend, provider, musician, and just being human.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m professional drummer and entrepreneur born in Baltimore, MD. I got my start learning to play the drums at the age of nine after witnessing the versatility and skill of my drum teacher. Although my drum instructor was blind, he demonstrated a mastery that inspired me to pursue the instrument myself. Years later, its safe to say that I boast a diverse skill set and unique rhythm that spans many genres including Hip-Hop, Latin, and Jazz music.
After moving to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, I performed regular jazz and funk gigs with the Red Eye band while interning for a local recording studio. Through connections made during my internship, I was given the opportunity to join forces with local Indie band Yardij.
While attending Broward College as a music technology major, I played multiple gigs all across Florida as well as completing my first four date tour with Yardij to Austin, Texas during SXSW (South by SouthWest) music week.
MY drumming career has allowed me to tour North America opening for household names such as Jordan Hollywood, Lil Baby, HOOSH (Rolling Loud Tour North America Tour), FLO RIDA, Chase Atlantic and the iconic Rock band Bon Jovi while still balancing community engagement with my company Arc Labs Media,LLC. I’m currently endorsed by Heart Beat Percussion, a boutique cymbal line based out of British Columbia, Canada. For personal work, I am currently working on just being…
Personal challenges will arise. Things will happen out of your control and thats just part of life. It’s ok. Just keep moving forward. 1% better everyday!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Great question!
My friend Rohit came to visit Miami a few months back for Miami Carnival and the itinerary went as follows.

2. Rumveranda, a weekly Soca/Dancehall party held on a Wednesday of all days!
3. Wynwood – Just for the food and art
4. Fort Lauderdale Beach
5. The Jerk Man – Some of the best jerk chicken you’ll ever have in fort lauderdale
6. My family – Parents, girlfriend, etc…
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank several people…Sekani Solomon, Lucas Morelli, Grace Kewl, and Dr. Nadene Hankerson. Grace and Dr. Hankerson have been pivotal in the support and development of my company Arc Labs Media. Having started in the incubators program under the Destination Sistrunk non-profit to becoming their in-house AV team for programming and events has been a wholesome Journey.
Over the years my cousin Sekani has always been someone I’ve gone to for general and career advice. As Arc Labs started to develop, Sekani later introduced us to Cash App back in 2019 which launched our company into the sound design space of the tech industry.
My business partner Lucas and I met at Broward College back in 2017. We were both studying to becoming to become audio engineers. He was also the best producer in the class at the time. I figured with the ideas and vision that I had, I knew he was someone that I wanted to work with because working with someone better than me, was only going to help me in the long run. Since then we’ve achieved success together in many ways. And we still have a ways to go…He’s my brother for real…
