We had the good fortune of connecting with Jorge Lorenzo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jorge, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It was a combination of passion for liking high quality food as well as filling the gap for obtaining that high quality food during COVID and the lockdowns since everyone was limited with most restaurants being shut down for an extended period of time. I’d say It was a good plan with great timing.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Lomelo’s is a high quality meat market. We offer high end, restaurant grade wagyu beef, seafood and wine at a fraction of what they would cost at a restaurant. With the insurance of at-home cooking during covid, we helped bring the restaurant experience to your home. Many people realized they liked It just as much or more. We got to where we are today by staying true to what we were founded on which is quality. We never substitute quality and certainly practice what we preach by continuing to bring only the best steaks in freshly cut weekly at our USDA cutting facility. It has not been easy with the shortage of supply and food chain struggles but we have managed to keep product flowing by expanding our partnerships with the best wagyu product lines and farms.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d make sure to find the time to take my friend to what in my opinion, is the most consistent food spot in miami, Hillstone. The food and drinks here never miss and it’s a place where you’re guaranteed to run into some people in your network. For dinner, my favorite restaurant is Osaka in Brickell. Every dish has an explosion if flavor and their cocktails are second to none. This place is very fun, a must visit for gastronomical experience. I like to hang out at Soho Beach House when It isn’t too crowded with events or spend most my time at bars in the gables. A miami heat game or Florida panthers game are also great events to incorporate since the city has been buzzing around these 2 sports organizations for the last few years. The grove is another gem, from mister 01 for comfort food to salt and straw for dessert, this are allows for a relaxed vibe where you can eat and then walk around and check out all the cool stores and bars along the roads.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I think a lot of the success of lomelos is attributed to my family and the friends and acquaintances who took the time and made the investment to not only support, but spread the word. Word of mouth has been the number one driving factor for growth. We pride ourselves on quality product and exceptional customer service which has been crucial to the growth of our customer base.
