We had the good fortune of connecting with Josefina Hernandez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Josefina, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started in the entertainment industry at the insistence of a friend. He wanted me to attend a casting for a reality show, I went to it and although I didn’t win the contest, the producer selected me from the group of girls to be co-host of the TV show in prime time from Monday to Friday. And in March / April 2008 everything started

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

My work is focused on the use of voice and characterization professionally. Although I started in the entertainment industry in 2008, it was not until 2020 that I started doing voice dubbing and internationalizing my talent.

Each person is unique, with a peculiar style and I think that differentiates me from others, that warmth of my voice that allows us to connect and that is exactly what brands are looking for today.

Getting to where I am has not been easy and more than that I have not had that direct support from anyone in the industry who tells me the way is here, I have trodden my path alone and that makes me very proud.

I also told you before that I went through a health process in 2013, at 27 weeks of pregnancy I was hospitalized and a series of events happened that, in order not to go too far, I would tell you that I was intubated for almost a month, had an induced coma and had two cardiorespiratory arrests. Well, that process left me speechless and without mobility and resuming my career was very hard. What took a person x 2 classes took me two months to understand and learn certain techniques, because I work with the voice and I had to learn to speak Practically since, as I told you, I was intubated and this atrophied my vocal cords, really the journey that I have traveled since 2013 until now has not been easy, it has been full of frustrations, desires to throw in the towel, but in the discipline, Consistency, respect and love towards this profession is the key. I have not given up, I have continued forward against all odds, clinging to the will of God that has never left me alone. And this definitely fills me with pride and is something that can serve as an example to others, if with so many problems I could, YOU CAN DO IT!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely think of TribuVoices, we are a group of voice professionals who are in different countries of America. I will not say a specific name because we are 12, but if they were here in my beloved Dominican Republic, first I would take you to my recording studio, then I would invite you to a delicious typical Dominican homemade food (rice, beans and meat) and why not a delicious mangu with the three shots (pure green plantain with egg, salami, cheese, onion and avocado) and to have a refreshing to die dreaming- morir soñando (orange juice with milk and a lot of ice), and during that week I would take them for internal tourism but not through the eastern part of the country, which is the most touristic, if not for those amazing places we have, such as the 27 puddles of Damajagua, I would take them to the province of Maria Trinidad Sanchez, which has some amazing places, and of course to Constanza and my province where I was born, the Espaillat province, which has a lot to show tourists. All these places are in the north of the island and with good organization a wonderful week can be enjoyed.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Definitely to God. In 2013 I went through a very delicate health process and thanks to him I am today reaping the fruits of my hard work in this profession in which I have been in for 14 years and enjoying my family. God brought into my life a wonderful husband who has supported me in every step I take and an extraordinary son who is my engine to move forward every day.
