We had the good fortune of connecting with Joselyn Hernandez Agrazal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joselyn, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting your own business can be very rewarding. But it’s also a challenge.

When I made the jump for the first time to begin a new lifestyle as an entrepreneur, many thoughts pass through my mind at once:
Is it the right decision? What if I fail? Will people like my products? What will I do with my current job? Can I live only from my business? Will it be easy? Will I lose the money I invest? and many more.

I was scared and, these thoughts were with me every day, even when my husband and I were investigating and planning on how we will create my company. Have you ever felt so worried when you are about to make a significant decision you can’t sleep? That was me, ready to invest our saving in this project.

At last, Jolunature was born. It was not easy getting started but, I was motivated to give it my all, even if I had only one sale or neither in the month. I got frustrated many times when I felt stale, but I keep my hope, faith, and positivity up because I knew my hard work would pay off in the end.

Right now, Jolunature is a small company and brand, but it has been growing little by little with the support of loyal customers. I feel happy and hopeful it will continue to grow bigger. Regarding the thoughts I had at the start, I feel great, in control of what I want to do, where to go, and what to create. It is a freedom that only creating your own business gives you.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

I have a bachelor’s degree in Technology Industrial Chemist graduated from the University of Panama. After my graduation, I got hired by one of the top pharmaceutical companies GSK.

I got the ability to work on repetitive tasks, having great attention to detail while testing different products and assuring the quality through differents tests, always using good manufacturing practices. After two years of experience, my husband and I got married and came here looking for new opportunities.

I never imagine the difficulties of being here, but being patient and strong I learn so many lessons that guide me to where I am today.

This year I was able to go to Spain to take some classes about Natural Dermocosmetic. It was one of the most exciting experiences I ever had, to learn and combine different ingredients ethically and naturally sourced while using chemistry. I learned how to make a product highly effective and less toxic with significant properties to the skin.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a week to go places with my best friends, I will do the following:

First, we will have the first days as adventure trips like:
Go to the Everglades
Key West
Key Biscayne

In the last days take them to the city to hangout and eat like:

Bayside Market Place
Hard Rock Cafe
Design District
Frost and Science Museum
Brickell City Center
Dolphin Mall

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout to my husband, who has been one of the people motivating me and making some effort to keep this project and dream alive. I also want to shout out to my parents and little sister for always supporting me in everything. at last, I want to thanks Robert Guzman for guiding me towards the right path. He has been a fantastic and genius mentor who inspires me to work hard and dream big.
