We had the good fortune of connecting with Josh Brinzo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Josh, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my own business was always something I had dreamt of doing. I’m not sure what sparked it inside me, but I knew it was my calling. I wanted to follow in the footsteps of our family, but in a more creative way.

When my brother Christian started brewing beer I knew we were on to something. It seemed like a way to take a business plan I had in the back of my mind and turn it into reality. My dad, brother, and I got together and developed a brewery with a unique spin to it. While not absolutely mind-blowing in terms of the plan, it was still unique. We wanted Stormhouse Brewing to be a place all of the community felt welcome. A place for all to come together and just have a great time. We wanted to offer great food and drinks, as well as entertainment and events for all!

I personally love seeing guests leave Stormhouse with a smile. I know it sounds cheesy, but it truly makes it all worth it for me. I’m not in this to become insanely rich, I’m in this because I love getting to work with the community and bring people together.

Stormhouse was built to take that great South Florida vibe and mesh it together with a restaurant and brewery. Ultimately we created a place with fun colors, a beautiful inside and outside, and the perfect South Florida feel. The only thing we didn’t plan for was COVID-19 happening a month after we signed our lease!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My experience is very different than most people. I started fresh out of Baylor University in Texas as a new staff member in public accounting, nothing too exciting. However, I soon realized I did not enjoy working in public accounting. It wasn’t that I was bad at it, but the field just wasn’t for me. I wanted more interactions with people in my day-to-day work!

My wife and I had just gotten engaged and we were offered roles as a personal accountant and personal assistant for a high profile couple, but it would require moving to Connecticut. It was a big move for us, but it seemed worth a shot. This job has become a major part of my life now for six years and we have managed so many things from real estate transactions to a full band! This job has been extremely stressful and highly rewarding. It’s very demanding, but we have had so many amazing experiences from this job.

After moving with this job to Florida I realized it was finally time to launch Stormhouse Brewing. We got our team together and went to work. I balanced a full-time accounting job, a newborn, and Stormhouse Brewing. It was a ton of work and I knew how much time it would take up. It’s all about the long-term goals though!

I think one thing that sets me apart is my dedication to my work. I like to bite off a lot at one time because I thrive under pressure. While balancing all of this I also managed to launch a podcast about professional athletes who are also dads! Locker Room Dads had also started to take up a lot of time, but again it was all about my long-term goals and providing a legacy for our family.

Along the way I have met some amazing people and built great relationships. I’ve managed to balance all of these great relationships and build upon them. I love getting the opportunity to collaborate with the great people I meet, whether in promoting their business through mine or sharing their story. I’ve met owners of businesses who I know I can always rely on and I try to make sure people feel the same about me. At the end of the day I want someone to know they can depend on me and understand I will always give 110% no matter what. It’s a motto my wife and I both live by and as we work together we push each other to always bring the best we can every single day!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Living in Jupiter is probably my favorite place I’ve ever lived. It’s relaxing, chill, and beautiful. I love when our friends visit from up north and see where we live!

If I’m looking for great local spots I have to start with our own spot, Stormhouse Brewing! However, there are many great local breweries I would show them like Twisted Trunk or Coastal Karma. If we are going out for some great cocktails we are going to Parched Pig in Palm Beach Gardens. Parched Pig is one of my all-time favorite bars. The staff are extremely knowledgable and create some amazing drinks!

It’s hard to go wrong with Juno Beach. I think it’s my favorite beach in the area because it feels less commercialized compared to other beaches. It’s also the perfect spot to take your lunch during the work week and relax!

Another standout spot in the area is Delray Beach Market! I love this place and it’s always a lot of fun with friends. This is where you take your indecisive friends for a good lunch or dinner if you don’t mind it being casual.

Last thing I would say is to just get out and enjoy the area we live in. South Florida is absolutely beautiful. We are blessed to live here! Whether you’re just walking some great trails in the area, looking for a great place to golf, or want to go to the beach, South Florida has it all!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This is entirely dedicated to my wife, A’Lia! Creating Stormhouse Brewing was a large time-consuming process, but A’Lia and I were also expecting our first child when we signed the lease. I honestly have had the best support system to make this dream possible! While my family has been instrumental in this, A’Lia was with me helping make so many important decisions for the project and how we approached everything.

A’Lia and I actually work together in our full-time jobs during the day, so getting her help with this project made a lot of sense anyway. I knew the quality of help I was getting, she’s the best there is. From interior decisions, social media, or operations, she was incredibly instrumental in everything!

I have to give A’Lia so much credit for Stormhouse Brewing and where we are today. I have such a strong wife that deserves so much credit for being the hardest worker and supporter I know!
