We had the good fortune of connecting with Josh (Flyguy) Floyd and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Josh, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risks have really been all my life has been about if I’m being honest. As a basketball player for a great deal of my life in South Florida I have always been a risk taker when it came to different opportunities for my career from going to three totally different high schools in different parts of Broward County. To going the Junior College route, playing at the Division 1 level, to ending my career while receiving my Master’s degree in West Virginia. It’s all been a journey to get me where I am today as a person that never had a problem changing locations if it was for the better. I now consider myself a professional “Dot Connector” I’ve stepped away from basketball and currently help different artist and creatives with helping their visions come to life with different marketing strategies and being the bridge to bring people together to create magic! With that being said, I will be taking a huge leap of faith by moving to the great city of Atlanta to really go all in with my craft. In my opinion risk and success go hand in hand. Only the great ones are willing to do it and I just know it will workout for me.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Getting to this point in my career has been a work in progress for sure and I’m NOWHERE close to where I want to be. I am continuously spending my time learning trying to be the best I can for each of my clients that I work with. I am relatively new to the music and marketing industry and it really brings me joy to be able to help artists in any way possible. When artist put their trust in me I do everything in my power to help with their exposure and bring success to their campaign. The trust factor is huge for the relationship between myself and clients, I am very upfront with my business and I expect the same in return. People know that I have always been a genuine guy willing to go above and beyond to get the job done. I’m most proud currently of the of the publicity I have been able to get multiple artist from having their videos played on platforms like, BET, Revolt, Hype, and a host of others. Nothing in life is ever easy I challenge myself everyday to find different ways to get better in every aspect this is only the beginning of something HUGE! I suggest you artist hop on the wave before its too late! Let’s build together!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A great amount of my good friends are not from the South Florida area so the first thing that I enjoy doing with them is spending the day on boats and yachts. The South Fl scenery is second to none in the USA in my opinion but when you get your friends together on a yacht with drinks and me on the aux the vibes are unmatched! Shopping would also be something that is mandatory gotta take my friends to some of my favorite stores from Unknwn, Bathing Ape, or some of the shops in Bal Harbour. I try to be the best tour guide for all my friends when they decide to make the trip to South Florida!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
It would be hard to narrow it down because I know so many very talented creatives that inspire me so I have to list a few. Big S/o to some of the artist that I have worked with Goodfella Uno, IHateJulian, and a big S/o to Geesus Shuttlesworth an up and coming creative that will be doing MAJOR things in the music industry!! I also would be crazy not to include my sister @LexyL3x and @thegirlschatpod with their new podcast! Very dope people all around!
