We had the good fortune of connecting with Josh Pettigrew and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Josh, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
In the entrepreneur space most people will tell you that balance does not exist. I believe to some degree that is true because when you become dedicated to a goal or focus on your passion there is not much time to waste on things or people that are not getting you closer to the end goal. At first when I was building my business and striving to reach financial freedom there were many things that took a backseat including my family, which is why I hustle so hard in the first place. There was a time early on I had to make a choice on what my main priorities are and never waiver from them because there will always be distractions. Balance exists, but as a business owner you will have to decide what your priorities are and why you are building your legacy in the first place because if not your life will not be sustainable. I see several people go into business and they end up burning out and the reason for that is they forget why they started in the first place and they lose their priorities along the way. Decide what it is you truly want for yourself and say no to anything that does not align with that.

What should our readers know about your business?
I founded a mens athletic apparel brand called It’s All Mental Apparel which is centered around helping men overcome mental health barriers through physical activity. The idea came to me when I reflected back on some of my toughest times in life, but when I made the mental choice to overcome anything I felt empowered. We set ourselves apart from other brands in the market because not only are we offering premium apparel gear we are building a brotherhood that is a movement to help inspire every man to overcome anything. I knew that I had to create this because there was nothing else out there like it. I have a story just like every other man, but no matter the pain we are focussed on turning that into something powerful.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Miami is such a unique place with an awesome vibe. There are so many things to do, but the one thing that stands out I think everyone must do if they are visiting or a local to Miami. Reach out to Megan Cashmore and book a day with Miami Yacht Rentals, you will not regret it.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Anybody who tells you they are “self made” is not being completely honest because we all have had help getting where we are. I have a few people around me that have been in the trenches and been on the top when I am winning. I owe so much recognition to my wife Ariel because no matter the season of business she is always there to support me no matter what. I also have learned so much about relationships and how to truly invest in people from my father in law Jimi. Faith in God has played the biggest role and times that I trust his plan for my life things always seem to work out for the better.
