We had the good fortune of connecting with Jovan Murphy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jovan, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important lesson that I’ll say my business has taught me is that creativity is key. South Florida is knowing for fitness so it’s plenty of trainers out here. And in order to make yourself knowing you have to separate yourself from the competition – and in my line of work that’s what creativity has done.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business name is Ultimate Fitness, it’s a personal training service that I provide from the comfort of my home in my garage. With a stable location and all new equipments I’m able to attract all of new clientele for the service I provide. I try to separate myself from the competition by being as creative as possible with my trainings. With my creativity I used it to market and promote myself in order for others to see and maybe be interested in. I’m able to be where I’m at today due to the consistency and determination for the the greater goal, which is to have my very own facility. There’s been many ups and downs for me while trying to build an image for myself but with determination I was able to overcome those challenges. I’ll say that I’m where I’m at today due to the countless support from my family and friends. With them always putting the word out there about my service and always being the first to come to an event – I’ve been truly bless with some good ones.
Also, the most important thing that I’ve learned from my service is the importance of patience’s and holding yourself accountable. With my business I come across others with different personalities, different mindsets, and different goals. So having the patience to attend to their different needs is a challenge. With accountability my clients can count on me being there for each session, me allowing them to feel comfortable around me, me helping them reach their goals and more. Fitness is a key aspect to life, and I believe that everyone should be practicing it in one way or another.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For a week long visit I’ll take my friend to the beaches to enjoy the sun and the water, I’ll have them have lunch, brunch, or dinner on the beach, we can have a drink at local bars, visit the local art district and check out the different malls in my area. Being that South Florida is a Caribbean island itself and filled with different cultures and heritages I’ll have them try food from different places if they haven’t before and show them what the night life has to offer. Also, depending on when they’re visiting we can go partying on a yacht. Either way they’ll have a good for that week long visit.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Major major shoutout to my family and friends. With their support I’m able to be in the position that I’m currently in and continuing to grow. Also, shoutout to my clients, without their belief in me the vision wouldn’t of been possible.
