We had the good fortune of connecting with Juan Rivera and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Juan, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
One thing people usually aren’t aware of is that a lot of artists aren’t actually both singer and composers of their music content. nowadays, most lyrics to a song are composed by a ghost writer behind the scenes or are generated by A.I.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My journey began at the young age of 15. I have always been fascinated which music especially the rap/hip hop & reggaeton genre. I started composing and recording music back when cassette tapes were still around, from there I knew that it was something I was really good at and kept honing my skills until eventually I ended up recording in a professional music studio back in Puerto Rico along with different artists at that time who also influenced me to become the best version of myself with each song I wrote. People say what sets me apart from others is my deep voice which is unique and can be distinguished throughout each track. It has not been an easy journey getting where I’m at today and I am strive to get signed to a record label one day but for now I am a solo artist. I’ve learned that patience and hard work is the key to success. Dreams work only if you do!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would honestly take a trip to Puerto Rico with them and my first stop would be a small Chinese restaurant located in Santa Juanita Bayamon, they have the best combinations ever full of flavor and of good portion. I would then go down to Lajas which is very beautiful to vacation and relax. Puerto Rico in general is a key hang out spot that has activities for all groups and ages to enjoy, from the beautiful forest of el yunque to the beautiful beaches of the coast it has it all!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would say that throughout my entire life I’ve had a very vast organization of people that have impacted and contributed to my overall success. One person that has helped make me become what I am today is my Grandmother Otlia Gonzalez who has passed away for a few years now. Took me under her wing when my mother passed away when I was 5 and through pain, love and endurance showed me how to become successful in life.
