We had the good fortune of connecting with JUDY MORGAN and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi JUDY, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Integrity. I have zero tolerance for lying, cheating, stealing, or treating others badly. This includes both my personal and business life. I believe if we align ourselves with people and businesses that have integrity we will always be successful and be able to work well together. If the people within my business have integrity they will always treat customers with care which helps our business thrive.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I want to write a book titled “Mistakes I’ve Made So You Don’t Have To” because I’ve made so many. I had an embezzling office manager, I was swindled out of $75,000 in an Amazon marketing scam, and I almost went bankrupt the first year I owned my veterinary practice because I had no idea how to manage a business. I hired business consultants to turn the practice around and to teach me how to manage employees and money. It worked so well that I ended up with a huge income tax bill because we were so profitable. That taught me the importance of hiring highly qualified professionals to take care of legal and accounting issues. I opened my second veterinary practice in the middle of a huge economic downturn – another flawed decision, but it worked out over the long-run. Fortunately, when I wanted to retire from clinical practice I was able to sell the businesses to my associate veterinarian in November of 2020. I wrote my first book in 2014 which started my journey of becoming a social media influencer. I’ve since written three more books, two of which were best-sellers. My social media platform blossomed into an online e-commerce business and now that includes an online learning center. My goal ten years ago was to change the lives of 1,000,000 pets worldwide; that has since become reality and the new goal is 10,000,000.
My love for animals and desire to see them live long, healthy lives fuels my passion to speak out against the causes of cancer, chronic disease, and early death in our pets. Our e-commerce site provides over 400 natural pet care products that replace harsh chemical-laden products that cause harm. We also have an educational platform where pet parents can take courses to enhance their knowledge and ability to care for their pets.
My daughter took over as COO of the company in January 2020. She has made improvements in social media outreach, course content, product lines, and so much more, allowing the business to double year over year since then. She is passionate about pushing back against traditional thinking when it comes to pet care (glad I was able to be a good influence).
We do get criticism from traditional veterinarians, big pharma, and big pet food corporations, which is actually a blessing because it means we are making an impact and exposing the reality of the harm being done to pets. Our goal is to see a return to feeding whole-food, human-grade diets, allowing our pets to live without a life filled with chemicals, drugs, and chronic disease.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I don’t live in a city. I live on a 23-acre farm that we have made into a rescue sanctuary. We have donkeys, miniature horses, draft horses, mules, 4 dogs, 13 cats, 11 chickens, and 3 goats. A trail ride through the surrounding farmland is always a good time. My husband is a gourmet chef, so meals on the back patio/outdoor kitchen are better than any restaurant you’ll find (we have to drive quite a ways to get to a good restaurant from here). We love going to botanical gardens, the farm market, and the zoo to feed the giraffes. We also like taking “Bo” (our incredible RV) to the beach for a few days. Time with us also includes the antics of our 2-year-old granddaughter Sarah and my 85-year-old mother (also Sarah).
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Steve Harrison and Jack Canfield through the Quantum Leap program gave me the courage to declare my expertise and taught me how to reach a much bigger audience with my message. My husband picks up all the pieces when I just can’t juggle everything. My daughter is the best COO I could have found – she cares about the business more than I do I think!
