We had the good fortune of connecting with Juli Wenger and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Juli, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
That my life was a permission slip for other people to live in and on purpose with powerful authenticity, fearless confidence, and bold faith.

I’m passionate about helping people understand what their purpose is, and then getting out of their own way so that they can live it out. There are so many right now that are in a career because they thought that is what “success looks like” or because they bought into someone else’s story of what they should reach for. And they ultimately end up unfulfilled, wondering if this is all there is. It isn’t, and I’m here to shake them out of the comfortable.

People living in the purpose they were created for ultimately create a world that is more filled with love, compassion, and justice. That’s what I want to leave for my kids.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I work with impact-driven Jesus-followers and the Christianity-curious to understand who they are outside of their roles and titles, xhow to get out of their own way, and to live in that purpose. Interestingly, a LOT of them are entrepreneurs and business leaders so I get to put my business mentor hat regularly.

This business feels like a bunch of businesses rolled up in one. Some days I’m coaching. Some days I’m in the Author space promoting my book, Fired-up, Fulfilled, and Free. On other days I’m podcasting or speaking or teaching. And soon I’ll be spending time in my new course “The Fear to Freedom Playbook” – bringing clarity, momentum, and empowerment to a larger group.

The journey here started with walking away from my half-a-million-dollar-per-year real estate business (that I’d spent 10 years building). I burnt myself out, trying to meet everyone else’s expectations of success and make everyone happy along the way. I had what I was “supposed to want” but I was miserable. Not only that, but I had lost myself in the process. Over the last 3 years, I’ve been on a faith journey of learning who I am, what I’m here for, and how to courageously move into living my purpose.

It wasn’t easy. Entrepreneurship never is. And living the life we are called to will NEVER be convenient. For me, it has been all about understanding where I’m going and the impact that I’m here to make. Knowing that I’m here to help others abandon fear and embrace a life of courage, hope, transformation, and connection pulls me through the tough days. Our purpose is FOR us but it is never ABOUT us. So it’s the people who won’t see their transformation if I don’t show up that keep bringing me back. They make my fear irrelevant.

The biggest lessons I’ve learned in building this business…
#1 – My power is in my authenticity. #2 – I’m not meant to build it alone. #3 – Comparison is a killer of callings. #4 – Enoughness is an illusion. #5 – Rest is a requirement.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d get my friend Martine to take us fishing, learn to body surf, and grab a kayak and get out in some of the lakes and inlets to snoop at the architecture of homes – I may be out of real estate, but I still appreciate a pretty house. I’m one to keep things pretty chill and love to hang out in the yard with a glass of wine and a good conversation.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
That’s tough because it’s ultimately not one person… it’s an army of God-sent humans that have consistently encouraged me and called me up. That said, I’d dedicate this shoutout to Kathy Dempsey. Kathy has been a mentor for many years, and has not only encouraged me but has always been willing to call me out on my crap. Whether it’s working too much, or the need to lean into my faith to find freedom from “not-enoughness”, she’s always willing to say what I need to hear. We all need those challengers in our lives. People that won’t allow us to default to what’s normal or easy when there is something so much better for us.

That said there have been so many people along this journey that have had a significant impact… Life can be like that. We’ll have someone that triggers us or shakes something loose. And we’ll also experience moments that create change and awareness in us with a collection of people. I’m grateful for both.
