We had the good fortune of connecting with Julia Gabrielov and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Julia, what inspires you?
My inspiration comes from the natural and spiritual world. I love creation. Both the tangible and intangible. All of the intricacies, the symbiotic relationships, the incredible design of it all, fill my heart with awe and wonder. In our modern world, we have become far removed from both nature and spirit alike. I strive to reawaken something that has become lost and almost forgotten. My paintings tell stories of our inner most connection to creation and our search for something greater than ourselves.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I often describe my art as tiny fragments of my soul. Little feelings expressed in a big visual way. As far back as I can remember I wanted to be an artist. When I was young I didn’t know exactly what that meant, all I knew was I wanted to create images that brought people joy. The journey hasn’t been entirely easy. Over the years there were ups and downs, struggles, multitudes of emotions, and Ofcourse, rejection. But something inside of me wanted to persevere. I posted non stop on social media, I took any art job that came my way, I joined art collectives, I did gallery shows, I entered competitions, and submitted to publications. Anything and everything to be seen in the art world. It was like a snowball effect! Every opportunity lead to another and the more artwork I made the better it got. These days I am working with my favorite galleries and I am beyond thrilled to be a featured artist at the Walt Disney World Festival of the Arts for fours now. A question I often hear from young artists is how to find your style. It’s really simple actually- it’s just YOU. The thing that comes most naturally to you IS your style. Yes it develops and evolves, but ultimately each and everyone of us is special and unique and so is that vision. Stay true to yourself, listen to that little voice that fuels your passion, and never stop creating!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love the outdoors so our week would be filled with kayaking at Riverbend park in Jupiter, snorkeling at Blue Heron Bridge in Rivera beach, and riding bikes through Halpatiokee in Stuart. We would stop for a cafe con leche from Bagel break, grab a bite for lunch at Colab kitchen, a drink or two at Cork’d wine bar, and a fabulous dinner at District Table. Since we live five minutes from the ocean, each day would have to include a trip to the beach even just for a quick dip. From shopping at The Gardens Mall, to spear fishing, to camping in Venus, to catching an outdoor art show, if my friend isn’t completely exhausted and exhilarated by the time they go home, then I haven’t successfully showed them the Florida I know and love 🙂

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I cannot thank God enough for all the blessings in my life. Finding faith has given me purpose and a provided a guiding light in the darkness. I am also so thankful for my wonderful husband Tyler who has been on this journey with me from the beginning and has never wavered in his support. And Ofcourse, my amazing family who have always encouraged me to follow my dreams.
