We had the good fortune of connecting with Julia Sztuczkowska and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Julia, what role has risk played in your life or career?
From my own life experience, but also what my friends and family told me over the past years, you will never succeed if you don’t take the risk. Staying in our comfort zones is of course very comfortable, but if we want to move forward, try new things, live a better life, we need to leave that comfort zone in order to grow. In my personal life I had to make those decisions many times, sometimes sacrificing my friendships, relationships, studies… but it made me who I am now and the best times of my life, which I will always remember, were when listened my gut and took the risk. When you leave that comfortable space of your own, you start to meet new interesting people, find new opportunities, travel and experience life like you didn’t before. It is scary. It is something new, but it makes you grow and learn about yourself.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My modelling career started through social media. I was posting pictures from my travels, and one day a swimwear brand texted me if I want to work with them. I obviously said “yes”, so we did a photoshoot with all their beautiful pieces and I guess that’s when I started to work even harder to continue with this path. I think it takes both hard work and luck, but it was a great kick-start for me and to check myself, whether it’s something I want to focus on or leave it as it is.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As I’ve been living on Tenerife for the last 6 months, I’m absolutely knocked off my feet by this place. My favourite town, El Médano, which is known as a surfers paradise, is a must, if you’re into water activities. It’s honestly all I could do every single day. Go swimming and eat comfort food. And when speaking about comfort food, it needs to be good, so in El Médano we’re gonna find lots and lots of fresh seafood, which is absolutely a top notch.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First of all I would like to thank my family, who has been always supporting me, even when my ideas were crazy. I would like to thank Maddie Holdsworth and Keiran Fitzgibbon for seeing the potential in me. I had the best time ever working with them and making my dreams come true. And of course I would like to thank all the brands who worked with me on many different projects on social media and gave me the opportunity to grow in this industry.
