We had the good fortune of connecting with Julian Arana and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Julian, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Authenticity. My brother and I designed our business to reflect our unique qualities and skills. This created a culture that’s unlike that of any other fitness studio—and our members can feel it.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
B-Fit is a family-owned fitness studio in Miami Lakes, Fl. Our mission is to change as many lives as possible using evidence-based training, education, and cultivating a tight-knit community.

I’m proud to have created a place that brings joy to so many people. Our employees (myself included) are happy to do what they love and help others in the process. Our members feel grateful to have found a place to not only improve their fitness but also nurture social connections and look after their mental health.

This year marks a decade since we opened our doors. It’s been a rocky journey, especially having to navigate the uncertainty of a global pandemic. I knew nothing about business when I founded B-Fit, so I learned many lessons by making mistakes and developing myself to keep moving forward.

Through the ups and downs, we stayed true to ourselves and our mission. My brother and I built an authentic brand that’s a reflection of our values. These values have been the foundation that’s kept us grounded through all the challenges. The story of B-Fit is a testament to the idea that if you work hard to build something strong, it’ll sustain you through the obstacles that life throws at you.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of the best things about South Florida is the diversity of cultures that coexist here. I’d take my friend on a little food tour through Doral for some authentic Venezuelan food, Little Haiti for lunch, and finish the day at Little Havana. We could have dinner at Lung Yai for some Thai food, then go for drinks and some salsa dancing at Ball & Chain. Other spots to visit would be Kabobji for Lebanese food and my favorite sushi spot, Imasa. A trip to Miami wouldn’t be complete without a bike tour through the Wynwood murals and a day at the beach.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The success of my business could not be possible without the help of my brother, who is my right-hand man. Our personalities complement each other in a way that’s helped us create a powerful brand. As we’ve grown as individuals, our business has grown alongside us.
