We had the good fortune of connecting with Juliana Aguilar & Santiago Pinzón and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Juliana Aguilar &, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Juliana: The idea behind the creation of ICON wallcovering was born thanks to the fact that Santiago worked as an installation assistant. While he was navigating the industry, he shared with me different aspects the wallpaper industry was lacking in the city of Miami and how we could make a difference by offering our services.

1. Considering work as an expression of art. The process behind wallpaper installation comprises so many details that it is considered an art. Delivering a project is a form of expression that creates a positive change.
2. Attention to details. In the city of Miami, everyone is in a rush. We see daily how projects are carried out quickly without dedicating the necessary time and effort for a perfect result.
3. Punctuality. It is important to deliver realistic expectations to clients when starting and delivering a project. Being punctual is synonymous of respect, seriousness and trust with the client.

All these aspects have been essential for the growth of ICON wallcovering and what sets us apart from competitors.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We both are immigrants from Colombia. We arrived to this country separately and along the way we met and we found out we shared the same values and principles. We came to the United States with the idea of creating a better life and improved professionally and personally. We wanted to create a business and what better way to start building it together. Without each other’s knowledge and support, ICON Wallcovering wouldn’t be where it is today.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First stop is South Point Park. This beautiful place has it all. You can see the beach, the city, the ocean, the cruises and even enjoy great food. The restaurant Smith & Wollensky allows you to have the best seafood in the city while enjoying an incredible view and customer experience. The next stop would be Miami Design District where you can have a great shopping afternoon and admire the art sculptures around the streets. The last stop would be Upper Buena Vista to enjoy nature in the center of the city and escape from the day to day caos. In this place, you can also try different desserts accompanied by good music and tranquility.

We want to express our gratitude to the interior designers that deposited their trust and believed in ICON Wallcovering’s work since day one. Thanks to their unconditional support, we have been able to participate in hundreds of high-end luxury residential and commercial projects across South Florida.
