We had the good fortune of connecting with Juliana Faus and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Juliana, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
I would say the very first big decision I made prior to deciding to work for myself, was deciding to work ON myself. The investments I made and the time I took to define success and design the life I wanted to live, was more important than where the ‘paycheck’ was coming from. The common thread I see among the busy professionals I coach, is the lack of time to self-reflect; with jam-packed calendars and endless to-do lists, breaking out of the pattern to step back is so critical. Of course in the moment, it took a lot of resilience and strength to block out everyone’s opinions about how I should be running my business. In retrospect, that was the single best decision that has attributed to my success.

What should our readers know about your business?
What I am most proud of my business is that we don’t sell programs or coaching hours; we co-create a Partnership with our clients ensuring sustainable results by addressing and challenging systemic barriers. Truly listening to the problem they are trying to solve, and working together on customizing the solutions is what has set us apart. It can be tiresome as there are many offerings that focus on volume and pre packaged products that are one-size-fits-most. I take a lot of pride in staying resilient when faced with big corporate competitors knowing that my super power is creating honest and authentic relationships that in the end, result in tremendous impact for the professional, teams, and the organization.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I really love so much about what South Florida has to offer! There would definitely be a lot of beach time, and visiting the gardens. The botanical garden has my heart, also just walking around Coconut Grove and the Gables for those not so beachy kind of days. Miami Beach for nightlife where people watching and drinks are one of my favorite pass times when friends come to visit. A trip to Brickell City Center is a must as I always seem to find a new jewel that has popped up, and the place is just so full of life with so many great dining options in the area. Can’t really leave Brickell without making a stop by the River and checking out the views, sitting outside, and taking in Miami and all its glory. Design District has its charm and fabulousness for a great brunch or afternoon ice cream and coffee. The window shopping is to die for, so if I am not feeling like cashing out my 401k for a set of bed sheets, then we would stick to eating in the Upper East Side which I think is still pretty local and tourist free.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I reflect quite frequently on my professional journey and appreciate all the steps that has taken to get me where I am today. Having worked so many years in a Big 4 Accounting Firm, there were many mentors, sponsors and bosses that saw strengths in me that I didn’t; all those individuals invited me to step out of the comfort zone and into growth. The support I have from my husband to grow the business is paramount. Organizations like HACE, AICPA and ALPFA have amplified my voice by providing huge stages and support for visibility. The list of supporters would be so long to name them all, but I will say that my executive coach, Paul Gilbride has had my back and so deserves a shoutout!
