We had the good fortune of connecting with Juliana Narvaez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Juliana, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
To be completely honest I have always been quite good with time management, so I don’t believe my work life balance has changed as much throughout the years. What has changed, or rather evolved, are the tools that I currently use to keep myself organized. Once I started full time with You Got Social the work has exponentially increased, not only with clients but keeping up with social media platforms and the company content is also time consuming. The main tool I use which has become a life saver to my work life balance has been creating a weekly master list and a daily list. This allows me to keep my time management in check, completing company tasks while still allotting time for my self-care routines and time with friends and family. To be honest this society has become consumed with working to live, and although I am an advocate for hard work, its important to never forget that taking time out for yourself is crucial for your mental and physical health. For me that comes above all else.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I would be a liar if I sat here and wrote that creating and opening my own company was easy. I mean lets face it, living isn’t easy, it is the longest roller coaster ride we will all experience. I think if I am being honest I am still currently overcoming a lot of my challenges but the ones that I am most proud of would be that I had the courage to believe in myself and take the leap to open You Got Social. I still struggle on a daily basis with insecurities about my knowledge, my creative and writing skills. Imposter Syndrome is a very real thing.
One of the most important lessons that I have learned in life is that you may have all the talent in the world, but its nothing without a strong belief in yourself, and I think that also goes hand in hand with my company. I am a hype woman and I input as much self belief in my clients and in their products as I do in my own company. This allows me to have amazing customer service skills with my clients, and those who work with me. I know I may have just opened, and I do not have an extensive portfolio/resume as of right now, but in a short time I will be known in the marketing world for my skills and my talent.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Ouuu I love this question! If you must know anything about me is I love traveling and planning a full itinerary for trips is one of my hidden talents. If my best friend were to come visit I would definitely hit up some of the best food places such as Caja Caliente & Tacology (for tacos), 305 burgers. For sushi (which is my FAVORITE food) I would take him/her to Akashi, katana and Sushi Sake in Brickell.
In terms of activities there are too many to list but my some of my favorite ones would be glow in the dark mini golf, ice skating, paddle boarding, a night out in Wynwood, Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science and if we are feeling daring take a drive to Ginnie Springs.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate a shoutout to Michelle Founder of The Alchemist Media. She’s our amazing photographer, copywriter & friend who has been there from the beginning helping and supporting our journey. She’s someone that has helped me realize my true potential.
