We had the good fortune of connecting with Julieta Ochagavia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Julieta, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I founded LovFit in mid-2018 with the aim of encouraging women to spend time with themselves and free them from the daily burdens.
Personally, I was in a little loss in my life because I didn’t know what to do for a living and I found support at the gym. I worked out for 2 to 3 hours per day, 6 days a week, plus other activities such as running, jogging, skating… At the same time, I started therapy, and this helped me clarify the way through the darkness. This was when Lovfit was founded not only with the purpose of selling sportswear but to spread the energy to stand up and do something. This doesn’t necessarily mean practicing a sport but to leave your comfort zone to find yourself in a different way.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Entrepreneurship is not an easy path, it is based on constant learning about absolutely everything. I had a thousand crises with the brand: from the scam of one of my first dressmakers where she told me she had the necessary machinery to make sportswear to when I just opened the doors of my first business in 2021 in Argentina and I had a heartbreak personal crisis, illness and family deaths, the reappearance of my absent father, and all kinds of conflicts at the same time. This was overwhelming and also caused difficulties to find myself. With the brand, we started to sell retail and wholesale all over Argentina. Also, the brand was preselected for an entrepreneurship design program at a national University. We made several collabs with different influencers and participated in numerous social media events. The pandemic was a turning point in the meaning of the brand and how it reinvented itself in a positive way and it generated an infinite number of alliances with different wellness companies. Free online classes with fitness instructors, talks about sports nutrition, entrepreneurship, mental health, among others. With every purchase of a product, the brand made a donation to an ONG called ‘Enbarriate’, which is a communitary meal center, and we also gifted our clients a sample of our new fabrics.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would love to have a friend here, I will take her to know the whole Miami City. First, we could start by training in the morning and later go for a walk through the beach. After that, we could have breakfast at a healthy spot and then if the weather allows it, we could enjoy the day at the beach. We could also visit the malls and stores, continuing with all the different tourist attractions that the city has to offer.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I would like to thank my grandmother, she is not physically in this world but she lives within me and is my main push to keep moving and moving forward. I would also like to mention the people who helped me since my early steps as an entrepreneur, and a big shoutout to Mayra Medina, for opening the doors of her gym ‘Karateca Medina Box’ so I could sell my products.
