We had the good fortune of connecting with Justine Krohn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Justine, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
The most important thing I’ve done as a parent is to be present in my son’s life. I am very thankful to be able to stay home with him and to be able to work from home. Having The Loveliest Designs allows me to make my own schedule so that I can be there for him and to be the mom he needs me to be, I know it’s a luxury that not every parent I have and it’s one I do not take for granted.
The day to day life and those little moments with your children can be the most impactful in them.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I create custom hand painted items with acrylic paint and also create murals for local businesses and homes. There is something so special about a hand painted items and I’m so thankful for my customers who have trusted me with creating their ideas into reality. I’ve painted custom family and nursery name signs, wedding and party signs, custom charcuterie boards, shoes, ornaments and so much more!!
The Loveliest Designs is less than a year old and starting a business is never easy. I’ve learned many lessons along the way but my biggest lesson was to stay authentically me. It can be really easy to lose yourself when starting a business and to compare yourself to other small businesses. I’ve learned that comparing myself to others took away from what I had to offer and blocked my creativity.
By staying true to myself, I’ve been able to attract opportunities that are aligned with what I want for this business.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting the area I would take her to all of my favorite places!! We love going to the beach and I would take her to Pompano Beach, they have great restaurants and a splash pad for my son to play. For happy hour after spending the day at the beach, Beach House Restaurant has spectacular views of the ocean and delicious foods! I would also take her to Phat Boy sushi and to Batch Cookies where they have the best cookies I’ve ever had, their chocolate chip one is out of this world! To shop for the cutest clothes I would take her to the wander shop in Oakland Park and the Flamingo Flea market to support our local small businesses.
We have a great community here, the most interesting thing to do when visiting is to get to know the locals and to support their businesses, spend time outside and to explore the beauty of south Florida.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this shout out to both my husband and my son. To my son because it wasn’t until his birth that I wanted to pursue my passion so that one day he would feel confident enough to pursue his own passions. And to my husband because I would not be able to do this without his support and encouragement. He was the gentle push I needed to feel confident to share my talents and to start this business. I am so thankful for this incredible support system i have.
