We had the good fortune of connecting with Justine Parker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Justine, how do you think about risk?
Risk-taking has been an integral part of both my business endeavors and personal philosophy. From a young age, my mother instilled in me the importance of thinking big and aiming high. She taught me to view risks not as obstacles, but as opportunities for growth and advancement. This mindset has been both a blessing and a challenge. Instead of fixating on the immediate value of money, I’ve learned to see it as a tool for pursuing my dreams and making strategic investments.

While some may advocate for a more conservative approach, prioritizing financial security over bold ventures, I’ve embraced the ethos of seizing opportunities and trusting in the potential returns. My mother’s wisdom echoes in my mind—money circulates, especially when invested wisely.

Consequently, I approach each day with a willingness to take calculated risks, knowing that the rewards often outweigh the initial uncertainties. By daring to push boundaries and venture beyond comfort zones, I’ve witnessed firsthand the transformative power of risk-taking in propelling my career and aspirations forward.

In essence, risk-taking isn’t just a strategy; it’s a way of life—a mindset that continuously fuels my journey towards realizing my boldest ambitions.

What’s the saying about risk? “No risk, no reward. No pain, no gain.”
With great risk often comes great reward. There are failures, setbacks and even complete start-over’s along the way, but if you don’t risk something, you’ll never gain anything.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
As an artist and entrepreneur, my journey is a tapestry woven with passion, perseverance, and creative expression. What sets me apart is not only my diverse skill set encompassing Commercial Dance, marketing, and graphic design, but also my unwavering commitment to pushing boundaries and defying limitations.

From a young age in Silver Spring, MD, I was drawn to the world of dance. Through rigorous training at esteemed institutions like the Princess Mhoon Dance Institute Studio and Future Shock DC, I honed my craft in various styles, from classical to commercial. This foundation, coupled with academic pursuits at Hofstra University, where I obtained degrees in Dance, Entrepreneurship, and Marketing, laid the groundwork for my multifaceted career.

However, my journey hasn’t been without challenges. Diagnosed with Lupus at age 23, I faced adversity that could have derailed my dreams. Yet, through resilience and determination, I not only overcame these obstacles but also used them as fuel to propel me forward.

Each hurdle I encountered taught me invaluable lessons—lessons about perseverance, adaptability, and the transformative power of creativity. Through setbacks and triumphs alike, I’ve emerged stronger, more resilient, and fiercely dedicated to my craft.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that we embody innovation, inclusivity, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. Whether through dance performances, creative projects, or the eco-conscious fashion line I’ve built from the ground up, JusRédor Collection. I strive to inspire and uplift others, transcending boundaries and leaving a lasting impact on the world.

In essence, my journey is a testament to the transformative power of art and entrepreneurship. With every step forward, I am driven by a singular purpose: to ignite hearts, challenge conventions, and leave an indelible mark on the world.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Hmm! If my best friend were visiting the area and I wanted to show them the best time ever, I would suggest the following:

For a three-day weekend, we’ll kick off with a fun-filled day exploring the National Mall, scootering around iconic landmarks like the Washington Monument. Afterward, we’ll head to Georgetown for some shopping and to support local businesses, followed by a vegan-friendly dinner at PLANTA.

On the second day, after a rejuvenating brunch at Busboys and Poets, we’ll delve into art at the National Gallery of Art or, of course, the National Museum of African American History and Culture for some history and culture, before enjoying a leisurely stroll around the Tidal Basin. In the evening, we’ll opt for an engaging activity like a dance class or outdoor event, followed by a delicious acai bowl from Pressed Juices or Playa bowl to energize us.

To top off our weekend, we’ll indulge in a spa day at one of the area’s luxurious spas for ultimate relaxation. Finally, we’ll wind down by hanging out at the Wharf, enjoying the waterfront views and vibrant atmosphere.

This tailored itinerary promises a perfect blend of sightseeing, shopping, culinary delights, wellness, and relaxation for an unforgettable weekend experience.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely, recognizing the individuals and communities that have played pivotal roles in my journey is paramount. Firstly, I humbly acknowledge the divine guidance and purpose instilled in me by God. His presence in my life has provided direction and meaning, guiding me through the highs and lows of my journey.

Next, I must express my deepest gratitude to my mother, whose unwavering support and encouragement have been the cornerstone of my success. Her belief in my dreams, even during the most challenging times, has been a constant source of strength and inspiration.

Lastly, but certainly not least, I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to my DMV community—my family, dance teachers, mentors, advisors, and all those who have shaped me into the person I am today. Their collective influence has fostered qualities of resilience, determination, and perseverance within me, essential traits that have propelled me forward on my path to success.

As the saying goes, it truly takes a village to raise a child, and I am eternally grateful to have been nurtured by such a supportive and nurturing community. Their belief in me has fueled my ambitions and continues to inspire me to reach greater heights.
