Meet Kacie Mae | Live Musician, Singer, Pianist, and Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kacie Mae and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kacie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Honestly, it started out of pure passion and hustle. I moved to Charleston for college with a dream to perform live music, but no connections or roadmap. So I started door-knocking at venues, introducing myself and offering to play. I wasn’t waiting for opportunities—I created them. As I began collaborating with local bands, my network and confidence grew. That momentum eventually led me to expand to Philly and New Jersey, where I started working with a booking agent. The process taught me that if you show up with consistency and heart, people will listen—and doors will open.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My music is a blend of raw emotion and soulful storytelling. What sets me apart is that everything I create is deeply personal—it comes from lived experience. I write and perform from a place of honesty and healing, often drawing inspiration from the classic vinyl I grew up on, mixed with modern vulnerability. There’s a retro soul behind my voice, but it’s wrapped in the heart of a young woman who’s walked through pain, growth, and transformation.
It hasn’t always been easy. Fear was a big factor for me—especially early on. But I’ve learned that fear is just false evidence appearing real. I had to push past the need for validation and break away from environments and people who didn’t align with my purpose. As a young woman in both music and modeling, it’s easy to get caught in the wrong crowd or second-guess your worth. This journey hasn’t been linear, but it’s been mine—and I’m proud of that.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that the only way to keep going is to stay connected to why you started. I’ll be making music for the rest of my life. It keeps me grounded, motivated, and constantly falling back in love with what I do. I want the world to know that my brand isn’t just about performance—it’s about heart, perseverance, and proving to myself (and others) that dreams are worth chasing no matter how long the road may be.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my bestie was visiting my current city, also know as Charleston, SC, I would have so many cool places to take her. First, we would stop at my parents house in Seabrook and go horseback riding in the morning then have a beach day. I would also take her out to some of my favorite going out places like Ritual, Cocktail Club, Henry’s on the Market, Shem Creek, Republic, and Uptown Social. For food, I would show her my favorite hole in the wall sushi place called Shiki. I would also take her to 167 Raw and Marbled and Fin. I would take her around my favorite walking spots in the morning by The Battery and Colonial Lake. After that, I would also show her my Pilates studio , Taylor Grant Pilates. It would be a week of fun, fitness, and beach days !

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without a doubt, my shoutout goes to my dad. He’s been the backbone of my entire music journey—from the moment he bought me my first piano and signed me up for singing lessons as a little girl. He believed in my dream long before I ever stepped on a stage. He acts as my personal roadie, hauling equipment and cheering me on, always saying he wants front row seats when I make it big.
So much of my sound and genre is inspired by the music he raised me on—Fleetwood Mac, CCR, Jim Croce—those long car rides where he’d sing to me shaped my voice and soul. Stevie Nicks became my idol because of him. He even built me an in-home studio and bought all my equipment, just so I could fully pursue my dreams. His love and support have made everything possible, and I owe so much of who I am—both as an artist and a woman—to him.
