We had the good fortune of connecting with Kait Hinote and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kait, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
Everyone has an opinion about what you are doing and you cannot make every person happy. Have your close circle of people who aren’t afraid to tell you when you’re wrong and listen to them. If another person tells you they don’t like your product or photo, and they’re not in your circle, you can’t take it too seriously. Otherwise you’ll go crazy with anxiety. Your circle’s voices matter most.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
It took a while to learn how to have my own aesthetic and voice in a community with so many talented creators. I am constantly learning from those with more wisdom. Seeing how they would handle a situation and taking inspiration from that to form my own. I ask a lot of questions. I believe that is the downfall for many creators: they don’t ask questions because they believe it makes them look like they don’t know what they’re doing. No one knows what we’re doing! I love photos, I love books. I found a way to merge them together. It’s been the most fun reading books I love and getting creative with photos and reels.
I’ve learned not everything that worked for someone is going to work for you. And vice versa, not everything that worked for me is going to work for someone else. Realizing you will not be successful overnight and having patience was huge for me. My husband asked me this when I first started, “If you never gain a follower, would you still love doing what you’re doing?” and that was a mind changer. When I could honestly answer, “yes” is when I knew I was doing it because I enjoyed it, not for the recognition. I believe that shows.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m from Pensacola, not Miami! But my husband and I did spend some of our honeymoon in Miami and I have to shout out our favorite restaurant, Marabu. It was some of the best food we have ever had.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to shout out my husband, Garrett. Starting my own content creation was extremely vulnerable and quite scary. I was about to put myself out there for scrutiny. But he is such a hype man. Half of my photos are either his idea, or he’s behind the camera helping. When I hit a milestone, he’s there celebrating as much as I am. I would not be where I am without his support behind me.

Also have to shout out the book community. I’ve made some of my best friends in this community. I love you all so much.
