We had the good fortune of connecting with Kasey Estefan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kasey, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I always knew I was going to start a business. From the age of 7 years old I was always in my dads company working his business. In total he created and managed 4 if not more businesses. We were so alike I knew that was going to be me one day. The most important thing to me was being able to find something I was passionate about. I didn’t want to build a business just because – I wanted to build it because it resonated with me and when I share my knowledge it’s because I truly care about what my patients are going through and I can help them from what I’ve learned along the way.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started my career in hospitality and my exact thought process was if I can’t go straight to a college than this will be my college and I’ll learn what I need from this hotel. I put it in gods hand after that.I stayed at that hotel for 7 years and built an amazing VIP Management career. Although I couldn’t have asked for more I made sure to never get comfortable and gave myself a time frame and goal for every single year I was there. If I wasn’t learning more and moving up I wasn’t doing something right. That property was fundamental to my master plan, I told myself ” I’ll get my dream car, I’ll get my first investment, I’ll build my business and ….” so far we’re still on track.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m definetely a beach girl, so if my friend is coming to Miami thats where we’re going, who doesnt love the sandbar? Ofcourse I can’t leave out that my boyfriend and I are big foodies so we have to show them a little bit of the Miami culture and take them to either one of our favorite restaurants or something we can make a day out of like Smorgasburg. Night time is to catch a vibe – miami music, drinks and dancing.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout goes to my family, in particular my mom ( Trini ) my dad ( John ) and my three sisters ( Diana, Jennifer and Allyson) that all have business of their own. My mom was always my dads right hand man walking him through some of the biggest moves of his businesses and investments all while being there for us while we were growing up. My dad never stopped – he showed me what it is to be a real hard worker, he was up at 4:30am ( sometimes earlier) and didn’t finish his day till 11pm sometimes. I remember being in school and hearing him get up early in the morning and come in super late at night. Now all of my sisters are business owners ! Diana has a MedSpa in Medellin, Colombia and has given me almost all of my esthetician training outside of school, Jennifer runs two businesses and manages her investments here in Miami, FL while raising 3 kids – she has helped learn to manage my investments mostly and Allyson has her Lash Business in Michigan – shes my go to if I ever have questions on vendors, marketing, and manging my books. We have all supported each other throughout our businesses. They’re my go to and I’m always happy to help them if its ever needed.
