We had the good fortune of connecting with Kat Cruz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kat, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with the idea for Drink Your Vibes a few years ago. I am very interested in the subject of physics, as well as The Law of Attraction. I came a across a study by Dr. Masaru Emoto called “The Water Experiment” where he explains and proves the correlation between the vibrational frequency of words & sounds and the effect it has on physical / tangible things. It always stuck with me and I would use that concept to write on my own water bottles to manifest things and summon positivity into my life. During quarantine, I noticed water bottles with time-stamps becoming more popular to help track water in-take. I thought that it would be a great idea to incorporate the accountability aspect that the time-stamps offered along with the positive affirmations. I said to myself- “This would be my perfect water bottle.”- So I created it.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Drink Your Vibes is a water bottle company focusing on health, mindfulness, and sustainability. The DYV water bottle is sleek, has time stamps to help track your water intake, and also has a high vibrational word for every hour! Affirmations + accountability!
During the Corona-Virus Pandemic, I lost my job and decided to invest my savings into this idea. Production took a few months and in January 2021 – I received my shipment and was able to send out pre-orders and really start pushing sales. It has been an amazing learning experience, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. As a latinx / woman owned business, my mission is to not only inspire other women, but also to help normalize and raise awareness towards health, wellness, and abundance to my community and beyond. ”
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When my friends come into town, I’m typically taking them to Wynwood to see the art and enjoy the scene, a Design District tour with the best photo opps, and a few South Beach dinners at some of my favorite restaurants, Mila and Planta.
More of my Miami-must-go-to food spots would be Vista located in Buena Vista in the cutest development with little shops and some gorgeous scenery. Another favorite would be Mandolin- some of the best and freshest greek food in town. For dessert, the Abuela Maria ice cream from Azucar located in Little Havana- thank me later!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents are the most supportive people I have ever met. To them, no idea is too far-fetched or unobtainable. Even in high school, when I wanted to pursue dance full-time instead of going to college – my parents didn’t think to defer my plans or convince me otherwise. Their love, support, and faith in me has always been a corner stone to all of my successes.
