We had the good fortune of connecting with Kat Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kat, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
I want my legacy to be how I made people feel. Through my words, my thoughts, and who I am as a person I truly believe I’m changing the world for the better. I just want to be remembered for the way I love people; in a way that reminds them it’s okay to love themselves too.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What makes me different from others is that no matter how many people may do the same things, they can’t do it like me. I’m different because I’m not trying to be like anybody else, I’m just enjoying being me. And I believe people need to see things like that. I’m most proud of the fact that I released my very first book this year! It’s been a long time coming but I’m proud and excited to finally accomplish my childhood dream of becoming a published author. Getting to this point wasn’t easy though. I began going live on my social media platforms during the BLM movement back un 2020. And from there so many people told me I should start a podcast. I was very self conscious about it because I’ve always hated the sound of my voice but I pushed past the nerves. I did it scared and before I knew it, I was ending my 4th season of recording. From there I spoke with a few friends about how I wanted to write a book but I didn’t know how. I spent over a year trying to do enough research to make sure what I put out could be exactly what I wanted. It took a lot of time, effort, and frustration but I’m so proud that my book is now available on Amazon as we speak. The biggest lesson I’ve learned through all this is that it’s truly better to do it scared. The thing you’re most afraid of can push you to heights you never knew you could reach. But you’ll only know that if you face those fears. I want the world to know that no matter how ugly your past may look, you can have a beautiful future. You can always create a wonderful life no matter what you’re going through, but you have to do the work. I am the proof. My brand, my life, and my story is that you can truly grow through anything you go through. Or as my dad used to say, “You can do anything if you put your mind to it.”

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my late father, Birtes Davis. Everything I am, I truly became because of how that man loved me. He was a pastor who used his voice to help others. He was very good with people and had a way of making everyone feel at home with just a couple words. To know him was truly to love him. So now I’m continuing his legacy by doing the same. Using my words, my voice, and my story to help others. It’s truly an honor growing up to become the inspirational leader my Dad showed me how to be.
