We had the good fortune of connecting with Kate Jaramillo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kate, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
The main reason I started my own business was to have a flexible schedule that would allow me to be home with my children. Like many entrepreneurs, though, I found myself chained to my phone and computer, working just about all waking hours of the day. Time with my children was always cut short, and I chose to believe that I was setting an example of what a strong work ethic looked like.

One day I had the opportunity to interview a successful female business owner. When I asked how she balanced her work and family life, she jokingly said, “Oh, I balance nothing!” A short time later, her family life crumbled, and her business slowed down as a result.

Watching this woman’s experiences unfold was eye-opening for me. It helped me reflect on my own lack of balance, as well as how I was teaching my Nutrition Coaching clients to schedule their days.

As a company, we adopted the theme: growth without the grind. We found more success when we worked less hours and had more down time to replenish our creative juices. The Coaches we mentor, who often come to us when they are feeling burnt out and frustrated with the “hustle harder” mentality that hasn’t produced results, relax into a growth strategy that requires time to de-load. Their businesses grow in an easier, faster, and more enjoyable way as a result!

Today I enjoy working 4-5 focused hours per day serving our clients. My children receive three home cooked meals per day, and I even built time in my day to coach their school sports and help with homework.

By fully embracing the growth without the grind mentality, and guiding our clients to do the same, I have created success in my business, and love in my personal life. It feels like I am living the dream.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At Beyond Macros we help side-hustling health coaches go full-time in their coaching businesses by teaching them how to deliver a VIP experience that their clients can’t stop talking about.

Instead of placing the focus on a high volume of clients churning through DIY programs, we teach our health coach clients how to co-create a client journey that increases client results, retention, and referrals. Our coaching clients easily charge higher-ticket rates because their offers are bespoke and exactly what each client wants and needs.

Working on my own money mindset was a shift I needed to make in order to coach our clients in building a business that was both impactful and profitable. The biggest challenge I had to overcome was feeling guilty for charging for my services, even though I constantly invested in my own growth! Building rapport has always been easy for me, but asking for the sale has been a career-long challenge.

Through working on my money mindset, I realized that I was scared of people not liking me, and deep down, felt like I wasn’t good enough to receive money from my clients. Wow – huge shifts were made when I was willing to go deep enough with these negative emotions.

Mindset work has been so powerful for me that I decided to pursue certifications in the subject. Today, I am a Certified Mindset Coach, NLP Practitioner, Timeline Therapy Practitioner, and Hypnotherapy Practitioner. These are modalities in my toolkit that I use throughout the coaching journey for each one of our clients.

It is the mindset that helps our clients use the skillsets they acquire while working with us to create health coaching businesses that are both impactful and profitable. I am so proud of the well-rounded approach we offer!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The best thing I have ever done for myself is invest in mentorship. There have been so many mentors that have contributed to my success in business and in life. Amanda Tress gave me the courage, confidence, and skillset to launch my first multi-6-figure nutrition coaching business. Jenna Faith has helped me find an aligned marketing strategy that involves collaborations and innovative opportunities to connect to my soulmate clients. Without Camy Kennedy in my corner helping me challenge my thoughts and celebrate my accomplishments, I would not be the visionary CEO or hands-on mother I am today. Darren Hardy’s books, especially the Entrepreneur Rollercoaster, keep my entrepreneurial spirit afloat. My amazing business partner and best friend, Matt Walrath, inspires me to reverse engineer all of our big goals so we can enjoy the process, love on our clients, and grow without the grind.
