Meet Katerina Lube | Ballet and Stretching instructor, Personal Trainer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Katerina Lube and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Katerina, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I’ve started my own business with an idea to deliver something that I would love to have for myself. My business focuses on a ballet and stretching classes specifically for adults. While Adult Ballet classes are becoming more and more popular, stretching classes are only starting to pick up and I offer both of this classes which anyone can greatly benefit from.
After I took many ballet classes and stretching classes myself, I realized that I can give people what is missing in the market and I implement that into my classes. Dance and Stretching are a big part of my life and I really love and enjoy teaching it. Doing what you love is a very important factor in business and I think that what helps me a lot.
For example, I watch many educational videos and take different courses not only because I have to, but because I am genially curious about the subject. In a long ran it gives me an ability to explain exercises better and help people to achieve their best in training, improving their overall health. Some people send me pictures of before and after they took my classes and there is a big improvement in posture or abdominals. I am very happy for them and it is very rewarding for me.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business One&Fit Ballet and Stretch focuses on a ballet and stretching classes for adults who are either absolute beginners or people who had taken ballet before but need to brash on the technique. The approach I take is to teach people in accordance with the professional methodologies for schools. Although for my students the goal is not to become professional dancers, I believe that teaching them as professionals at the early stage will give them opportunity to advance.
There are many misconception about the ballet training and one of them that you need to be flexible. However, to start ballet as an adult flexibility is not a requirement but something you actually develop in class. Additionally, flexibility will improve if one takes time to do stretching exercises which can be done as a warm up or in a separate stretching class.
For the dynamic stretching classes I use the combination of pilates, physical therapy exercises and yoga breathing technique. Stretching helps to advance in ballet class but it also can be taken without the need to take ballet classes but to develop flexibility or recover muscles from working out.
The mission of my business is to bring ballet training as a lifestyle. Similar to yoga which once was an activity for a small circle of people, I believe ballet training is a good form of exercising with a lot of health benefits such as:
1. Improves posture
2. Increases Strength
3. Improves flexibility of the muscles and joints
4. Improves heart and lungs health
5. Clears mind and produces sense of calm
6. Improves endurance
7. Improves Coordination
8. Improves Cognitive Development
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In Miami I find Wynwood and Coconut Grove the best neighborhood that have a lot offer. I like to spend time with friends in a nice restaurants that have an artistic interior design and good foods. Of course, Miami is a place to be for the beach activities and I like to go to Key Biscayne or Virginia Key Beach that has less tourists,
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I had great teachers along my way: Moscow Theater soloist Natalya Stavro, Andrey Selantiv, former teacher of Alexei Ratmansky, Caridad Martinez, former principle dancer of Cuban National Ballet, teachers from ABT and Bolshoi Ballet Academy Teacher’s certification programs. I am beyond grateful that I had a chance to train with them.
