We had the good fortune of connecting with Katsiaryna Asipik and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katsiaryna, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting my own business wasn’t a spontaneous decision — it came from a quiet, growing need to create something meaningful. Flowers were never just a hobby — they helped me express emotion and feel more like myself.

After moving to the U.S., I realized I couldn’t wait for the perfect moment. I started small, followed my instincts, and let each step lead to the next – even when it felt scary.

It wasn’t easy, but I knew I wanted something of my own – a space where creativity had room to grow and where people could feel the heart behind the work. For me, it’s never just about flowers. It’s about presence, connection, and making something that matters.

What should our readers know about your business?
Starting KateAsFlowers in the U.S. has been a journey of building everything from the ground up — in a new country, without connections, family, or a safety net. It’s very different from how I started back home, where friends supported my first steps. Here, I had to find my way entirely from scratch — freelancing, learning, and slowly carving space for my voice and style.

I still feel like I’m at the beginning of this path. There’s so much more I want to grow into — but every client, every opportunity, every flower has brought me closer to the vision I believe in: that floristry can tell stories, hold emotion, and feel like home, even when everything else is unfamiliar.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If someone close came to visit me in Miami, I’d start with breakfast by the ocean — probably something I made myself. It’s my way of showing care, and the ocean is my place of energy.

We’d walk through Downtown or South Pointe, and maybe one evening take a sunset paddleboard tour from Sunset Harbour — it’s peaceful and beautiful. I’d also take them to Bayside for a ride on the Skyviews observation wheel — the view over the bay is always a little magical.

When it comes to food, I love calm spots by the water with good Italian or Mediterranean dishes. For me, it’s less about trendy places and more about enjoying the view, the vibe, and the company.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m truly grateful to my clients for their trust, loyalty, and kind words over the years – that support helped me grow more than I can explain. A heartfelt thank-you to Natalie Dresher, whose encouragement and generous word-of-mouth made a real difference.

I’m also thankful for the friends who believed in me even when I had doubts – especially Natalia and Kate, who never hesitate to remind me of how far I’ve come and to be proud of it.

And to my family, with love to my sister Nina – thank you for being quietly supportive in ways that mattered more than you know.

All of these people, near and far, have helped shape my journey. I carry that support with me every day.
