We had the good fortune of connecting with Kayla Moran and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kayla, what is the most important factor behind your success?

I think the most important factor behind the success of my brand, and ultimately myself, is that I am 100% who I am both online and off. I am not afraid of being open, vulnerable and honest on my platforms and that really resonates with people!

In an era of curation, editing on social media, it’s refreshing to see someone talk about the not so pretty parts too and I have never been shy about discussing the realities of law school, mental health and sometimes even what it’s like to be a minority and Latina in higher education and in this country.

It’s beautiful when we can connect with others through shared experiences or the willingness to learn and that’s always a thought in my mind when I share something meaningful to me.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am first and foremost a law student at the University of Tennessee College of Law, I will be gradating in May 2022 with my JD and will be sitting for the Florida Bar post graduation! Alongside school, I am a law clerk at a Coral Gables law firm in Miami, FL. Beyond that, I am a blogger and content creator, sharing my life one IG story at a time! I talk about all things law school life, my favorite fashion and beauty items at the moment, my experiences with mental health and motivation, my newfound wellness journey and so much more!

I like to think my work is a holistic and comprehensive look into my life and I share as much as I can! I think I’m known for my vulnerability, my willingness to be open and partially my law school content because I am relatable to my followers and show that you can be more than a law student, that you can still have a life, fun and be yourself throughout the intensity of grad school. I am most proud of that, that I have never comprised who I am and what makes me who I am on my public platforms and that I can be a friend and resource to those who let me be! I think my authenticity and my vulnerability sets me apart. I like to create the content I want to see, what makes me feel good, and that’s something so special.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There’s so many places, I can’t choose just a few! It really depends on what the vibe is of the trip since there’s so many options.

Definitely a beach or boat day one day and then a girls night in with some yummy take out and fun cocktails from Sushi Sake Miami Lakes or maybe pizza.

Another day we’ll go to the Miami Design District and window shop and have brunch at Swan, and maybe a fun dinner somewhere in Wynwood, I like R House, Le Chick and Mayami or in Brickell, maybe Komodo or Dolores but you can call me Lolita.

I love to dance so one night we’ll definitely go to dinner at Sugarcane and then head to Riverside or the Wharf for some good music and dancing all night!

For brunch one day we’ll go to Mamey and then walk around Miracle Mile and Giralda, I love Coral Gables so much! Another burnch spot here might by The Gramercy!

To stay closer to home one night, we might go to CityPlace Doral one night and listen to live music at Copper Blues.

We all need a relaxing day so maybe another beach day or pool day and then a casual dinner with dessert at Aubi Ramsa in the Design District or drinks in Midtown.

And the last day we’ll go try a new hotspot, maybe Serena at the Moxy or Vista!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
They say it takes a village to raise a child and I am living proof. There is no one single person I can attribute my success to, there has been so many along the way. From teachers, to dance instructors, to my own classmates who pushed me to grow tremendously in college and law school, to my therapists, to my family and friends. I have come a long way in a few short years and everyone I have ever encountered has played a role even if they don’t know it. If I had to pick an organization, I would say my undergrad experience at the University of Central Florida as a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, it propelled my growth way beyond the parties and events and being social around campus, it introduced me to friendships, philanthropies and opportunities that have shaped me as person. As for a book, the Keatyn Chronicles by Jillian Dodd, the characters go through so much and every time I re read the series, I grow along with them, and I’ve learned some great tips and lessons too! I am blessed to have a great community around me and supporting me and I feel so lucky that I get to create such a wonderful community online as well!
