We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelly Merbler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kelly, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I considered starting my own business I reflected a lot on why I wanted to take this risk and walk away from a successful career. I had enjoyed what I was doing for many years, but as I grew older and had more life experiences, I started to look at what I valued most and what was most important to me to focus my time on.
I saw a need for something in our community and within organizations and I wanted to be able to spread my wings and use the gifts I was given to add value to more people. I tried so hard to do this where I was, but I couldn’t get buy in so I decided to create my dream job and hire myself.
I had a lot of sleepless nights thinking through what I was leaving, but in the end I realized I wasn’t leaving something, I was moving towards something that was waiting for me all along….my future.

We have worked with organizations of all sizes from startups to Fortune 500 companies.
We are based in South Florida and serve organizations all around the globe. We believe that when the leader gets better, everyone gets better.
I believe what sets my company apart from others is that we operate under a set of core values (Faith, Family, Kindness, Integrity, Giving Back, and Growth) and we truly live out those values in our work and in our every day lives. These are not just words that lie on our website for appeal, we truly live by those values and execute on them.
Building a business from scratch is not an easy task by any means so we have definitely encountered challenges through the process of the last 3 years. Just when we were gaining momentum at the end of 2019 going into 2020 we were hit just like everyone else was with the world changing and business reinventing itself.
I always do my best to look at problem as an untapped opportunity so that is what I started looking at last year and began reinventing how we did things. Through that reflection time, Coffee with Kelly was born and my entire business went online so we could continue serving the needs of organizations who were also changing..
This certainly won’t be the last crisis we face, but it has taught me that I am resilient and that people can truly come together to spark hope in some pretty dark times. That fuels me to continue inspiring and building great content for my clients.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I grew up here in Palm Beach County and there are many places I love to visit and would take my friends in town. I love to go over to Palm Beach and enjoy the beautiful restaurants they offer. The scenery is great for people watching and the ocean views are priceless. I just had some great girlfriends come in from Nevada and their wish was to eat breakfast at The Breakers so that is always something I try to show anyone who is in town. It’s not just a resort, it’s an experience you will remember.
On the other end of the spectrum, Wellington is where I grew up mostly and I am a horse girl at heart. I love hanging out at the Winter Equestrian Festival during season and lounging by the grand prix rings just watching these amazing athletes ride and compete on the most beautiful horses in the world. It is the equestrian capital of the world and watching Olympic athletes in action is always a favorite pass time of mine. It is the one place I can go and when I walk in the gates, my stress disappears.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
2020 was indeed one heck of a year filled with unknowns and challenges, but in those moments we can find opportunities and I would not be where I am today without the support of my tribe and what started because of Covid19: Coffee with Kelly.
Coffee with Kelly was birthed because of lock down in March of 2020 and we just celebrated our 1 year anniversary on March 23rd. This idea formed to bring community together, inspire hope, and live out good values with good people in the world.
In one year, Coffee with Kelly has grown to over 300 tribe members who support each other every day and come together twice a week (Mondays and Fridays from 8am-9am EST) on Zoom to share in relevant topic and leadership discussions as a team.
If I didn’t have my Coffee with Kelly tribe (aka the CWK Tribe) I don’t know where I would be today. There are countless people within our tribe who are encouraging others, serving our community, and connecting many to employment opportunities.
This Shoutout is for the Coffee with Kelly tribe!
