We had the good fortune of connecting with Kemesha Graham and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kemesha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I always knew that I wanted to work for myself (be an entrepreneur). I wanted to have a family and be there for them and have a schedule that I could control. I have a passion for food and service and knew that I wanted to share this with others by being a chef and cooking meals that were memorable.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I studied Culinary Arts. It was definitely not easy but I enjoyed learning and really getting to know background of all types of food, learning how to be a butcher, how to work in and run a restaurant. I definitely would say I am super passionate, I really care about people and making whatever their event is big or small just perfect. Hearing the words “we are so happy with our event” just makes my day. Having clients talk about and refer me is the biggest compliment for me to receive. I am very proud to be able to support myself and my family with my business. The challenges i have is the work life balance, running my business while balancing being a full time wife and mother. Setting aside time for my family to make sure that they receive the best of me while continuing to building my company. I have learned to be grateful for all that i have accomplished. To be humble with my clients and see that to me it is a privilege that they trust me and have chosen to work with me. I want the world to know that once hired my clients can be confident that their dreams and visions can and will be executed with perfection. They are my number one priority. And that nothing will get in between me and the accomplishment of their vision.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
That’s tough because e i am the ultimate hostess, The best place to eat is my home. lol. Literally, my friends and family book me to stay because they know that will have the best time, best association and eat, drink and laugh together. With that being said you can’t come to visit and not do the beach. That’s the number one go to spot. That’s our coast line and i live very close it. I love a good mom & pop’s diner with homecooked breakfast. For Dinner definitely a nice table cloth steak or seafood restaurant. Depending on their interest, we have great museums, lots of culture, diversity. There are so many different types of cuisines to eat and try, (for example, Latin & island types of food).

Day One – breakfast, lunch & dinner at home, catching up on r&r and what’s going on in life)
Day Two – quick breakfast, day at the beach, dinner at a dive beach seafood restaurant)
Day Three – some sightseeing (depending on their preference) museums or the Art District, back home for nice dinner
Day Four – nice breakfast at home, shopping at Sawgrass Mills Mall or Aventura Mall) , nice dinner out
Day Five – Hang out at home, home cooked breakfast & lunch, go out and enjoy Fort Lauderdale( Las Olas, Riverwalk) or Miami night life. Lots of fun!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
That’s a great idea. And its interesting because a few years ago I went back to my old high school to thank my Culinary teacher ( i forget her name.). I had taken Culinary I an II and there was no more i could do in my projected field. So, she had created a an independent study to allow me to get credit to graduate and I was able to continuing cooking and learning before I graduated and went off to college. I definitely want to give a shout out to Johnson & Wales University in Miami which allowed me to learn and grow. I did an amazing internship in Europe with a company called DO&CO international which exposed me into the catering business and new types of cuisines. My husband who is an Executive Chef really helped me to grow my business and really pushed. motivated and taught me a lot. My awesome babysitter who has been a lifeline for me to be what i call a mompreneur. Lastly, I appreciate all of the people who hire me and allow me to create some amazing event experiences. People like Ligia Trask Trask.
