We had the good fortune of connecting with Ken Major and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ken, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
This might be one of the most important questions we ever ask ourselves – and one we’ll never be 100% certain we know the answer to. Ever. If I had to answer this in a nut shell however, I would have to say go where you heart goes.

Reason being is quite simple; you never give up on something you love. Find what you’re passionate about, what brings excitement into your life, what makes you HAPPY, and you pursue it. Even if things seem uncertain or questionable, pursue it. There is where you will ultimately find fulfillment and happiness, arguably the two most important aspects of one’s life. We may define success differently amongst each other, but fulfillment and happiness are sure to be woven into any one person’s definition.

When an individual gives up on something, I firmly believe it is one of two things: Either the love for said thing has changed, or they were talked out of it by themselves, or someone else; sometimes both. It’s up to the individual to sit themselves down, alone, and figure out which reason applies to them. I can’t help any reader figure that out, but I can suggest the following. If it’s something you wake up thinking about and go to bed thinking about, and you know it hasn’t received the effort it deserved, chances are you either gave up too soon, or it’s time to revisit what you did not finish.

Moral of the story – Find what you love, what makes you “tick”, and never give up. Quitting is not an option

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I involve myself in several different endeavors today. I think it’s imperative to develop multiple streams of income, so I work towards that every day. I currently work as a Sales Manager for Sunrun, the nations largest residential solar installation company in the country (USA) for active income, while I work on other personal business developments on the side.

My goal is to acquire assets in the form of real estate, and returns from start-up business investments, create a positive cash flow in the process, and then ultimately use the time and freedom I acquire to launch companies of my own.

I have and always will be infatuated with the concept of creating things from scratch and growing them through hard work and care. I do fashion myself as a creative at the end of the day, not so much concerned about the money as I am making something come to life. Entrepreneurship to me, is just art in the form of business, and I know this is where my heart truly belongs for the rest of my life.

My story isn’t one that stands out as anything unique in this line of work. I’ve fallen flat on my face several times, I’ve won big and lost bigger, I’ve been broke, I’ve slept in my car when I had no where else to sleep, I’ve been completely without help. But so hasn’t everyone in this line of work as well as outside of it. I am no different. I am not unique. The struggle in chasing success is getting back up every time you’re down and saying “one more time”. I live by this, and I encourage every reader out there to continue to do the same. Never quit.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Much of my success thus far is in thanks to my failures above all else. Every loss, whether it be professional, financial, personal, relationships etc. have taught me the greatest lessons. The greatest teacher we have is our past. History serves great purpose for our future is can allow ourselves to learn from it, study it, and apply what we find. Failures and loss may hurt, and they may very well internally hurt to look back on…but is crucial we do not avoid them. We must be better than our past and continue to grow.

Aside from failures, I do choose to surround myself with a select few individuals that I can rely on for support, advice and guidance. Who you choose to surround yourself with will directly correlate with how you develop as a human being, and thus I choose successful people; people that are better than I in one category or another.

To my best friends, and to my loved ones, you know who you are, because I do not miss an opportunity to tell you I love all of you. I appreciate your continued belief in my success. You mean the world to me. Thank you.
