Meet Keri Elliott | Spray Tan Artist & Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Keri Elliott and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keri, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have always been a stay at home mom and I found myself in a position where my kids were older and i wasn’t needed as much. My role as mom was still important but began to not be as time consuming as most of my boys drove and I just became a little sad and a little lonely. I decided I needed to start up a business that dealt with women and would possibly lead to traveling and meeting people! I bought a spray tan gun and a couple of bottles of solution and began practicing on friends and family. I never in my wildest dreams could have imagined where this little journey of being a spray tan artist would take me!!! It has been the wildest ride of my life and definitely the most exciting!

What should our readers know about your business?
I started spray tanning two years ago in the corner of my bedroom. Just taking a few clients a day after I came home from my main job as a personal trainer. Within 6 months I got the opportunity to spray tan for swim wear designers in Miami at Swim Week. My name spread throughout the city and that week I couldn’t count the number of models that came through my hotel room for savage dark spray tans. I was hooked and in love with my job! After Swim Week I landed in New York as the spray tan artist for New York Fashion Week spraying models for all the runways. I met and made connections with amazing photographers and models and before I knew it a month later I was spray tanning in Los Angeles for Los Angeles Fashion Week. Two months later I landed my own show in Miami for Art Basel and drizzled tons of models for the shows. I flew to New York for the February shows and had more models than ever and worked long exhausting but exciting days. I am the first spray tan artist that the Fashion Shows ever brought on board with their team of hair stylist and MUA’s Along the way I spray tanned for Maxim, Cosmopolitan magazine and Harpers Baazar. My journey as a spray tan artist ins’t the normal artists journey and Im not sure I chose this route it sort of chose me and I couldn’t love it more. As my career grew I was asked to be the ambassador to the best solution company in the world Unfiltered Spray Tan Solution. It was such an honor and since then we partnered and created my very own solution under this company. It launched last week and we sold out in one day. It’s called RUNWAY XOXO KERI and it’s what I am most proud of! Its a dream for me as a spray artist to now have my own solution and seeing pics flood through of spray tan artists around the world spraying with it is just more than I could ever have dreamed!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Miami is my favorite city ever! I come alive in the streets of this amazing city! I love laying on the white sands and letting the ocean breeze blow over me. This city has the best restaurants in the world! I love Joia Beach club so much in the evenings as the sun goes down. My all time favorite Mexican restaurant is La Cerveceria on Ocean Drive. One of my closest friends owns Sobe Tan by Fabiola in Anatomy gym and I always love going and getting myself spray tanned by her! That is such a treat! I also love renting paddleboards from Miami Beach Paddleboard and paddle through the canals of the Venetian Isles . They are so sweet there and will help you out!
