We had the good fortune of connecting with Keshan Henry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keshan, what is the most important factor behind your success?

The entertainment industry is ever-evolving and can prove to very competitive. Some people look at networking as getting handouts, or begging favours while I look at it as creating long-term relationships that can take you to the next level.

I always look for opportunities to exchange numbers and information with influential persons in order to stay connected.

In this business, I have learned that it’s not always how talented you are but how well connected you are. I have built a strong network with the right people within the industry that I can depend on to propel me into new directions that can spark greater opportunities.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Professionally, I am Disc Jockey (DJ) hailing from the twin island Federation of St Kitts and Nevis with the aim of becoming an international sensation, a journey, which I started a few months ago by travelling to the United States.  Being new to the international scene, requires me to continusouly better my craft through extensive music research to deal with diverse cultures.  Learning the ins and outs of the entertainment arena from renowned entertainers in international face-paced environments.  I enjoy building rapport with other DJ, promoters and business owners, with the aim to captipult my brand to the next level.

Lastly, my job is not all work! – I do enjoy the travelling, performing and interacting with my audience /fans.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

St Kitts & Nevis is a hidden gem and romantic paradise with two of the prettiest islands in the Caribbean ( …and No, I not just saying that because St Kitts is home).

Ok, so let’s say that my friend arrives in St Kitts on Wednesday on American Airlines for one week (in during better times – absent of Covid pandemic / quarantine). Let’s plan the limin’ schedule.

WEDNESDAY

– Carmen’s Catering (my mother)
will be the first stop where my friend can get some local cuisine from hands blessed with flavour.

– Sprat Net will be the evening lime for fresh seafood platters and unpolished ambience while enjoying the live bands during dinner.

THURSDAY

– Land Tour Excursion (ATV Bikes)

– Romney Manor
No visit is complete without a tour of the Historic Romney Manor and its pristine gardens (featuring the famous 300-years-old tree), that is also home to the island’s Caribelle Batik craft, that visitors can witness the fascinating process, and purchase items and accessories from the gift shop.

– Salt Plage
Kick start the weekend with live music, great cuisines and drinks specials, beer buckets, and a relaxing chill vibes where the afternoon and sunset view are breathtaking.

FRIDAY

– Reggae Beach (Lobster Fest)
all you can eat buffet is crowd favourite and a great way to start the early Friday night

– Weekend Lime on the Strip – (Frigate Bay Beach Strip)
this is where majority of locals go to enjoy the weekend bliss of fun and entertainment, patronising the various beach bars while mingling with new friends.

SATURDAY

– Breakfast at Coconut Farm

– Tasting local traditional cuisines …such as Black Pudding, Goat Water, Cook-up (w/ pork),

– Beach Day
pack and cooler filled with drinks and head to one of our beautiful beaches to laze the afternoon away.

SUNDAY

Organise a road trip and journey to the country side to explore scenic attractions while enjoying one of my playlist along the way.

– Brimstone Hill
one of the nest preserved historical fortifications in the Americas, where the views are awesome for capturing memories, and its elevated vantage point offers panoramic views of neighbouring Dutch,, English and French islands across the Caribbean Seas.

– Belle Mont Farm (Kittitian Hill)
We will be there scenic ambiance overlooking the lush landscape and enjoy drinks at the poolside bar while interacting with the friendly staff.

– Arthur’s Sea to Fork Restaurant
Sundays at Arthur’s are indeed therapeutic. The atmosphere and views are amazing, especially watching the sun set on the beach as the sky change minute by minute from orange yellow to flamboyant pinks.

MONDAY
We head on over to Nevis

– Sunshine’s Bar & Grill – famous for the tasty killer bee rum punch, and one of the best places to experience island cuisine.

TUESDAY

– Day Pass at Park Hyatt

– Boozies on the Beach
will be the last stop of the week long activities to return to some type of equilibrium. Great opportunity to sit at the bar and mix and mingle with the locals while enjoying the last dinner on island. Great food and even better service.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

Shout Out to my family /relatives that have and continue to be a part of my success, especially Carmen Henry (my mom). She has always been very supportive of my personal growth and remains by biggest cheerleader (literally).

My manager OG for his patience, time and support over the past couple years, and he steady push to develop my professional career as well.

Then there is my friend Jarrel who remains in my corner despite it all and never sugarcoats anything. We may not always agree, but there are no arguments, and I know he is hard on me because he wants to see arrive at my full potential.

All the promoters that I have worked with over the years, and my fans, some of whom have been supporting my career since Day One. It is not always an easy journey but through all their love and support, it has shaped and guided me into who I am and where I am today.
