We had the good fortune of connecting with King Tetrus and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi King, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Peace & Blessings – all the above!

I think the most important thing or how I’ve been able to define my succes is that I do the one thing most people don’t do – stay committed. I am relentless in my love and approach for greatness. I love the process I love the grind.

I’ve surrounded myself with people who know more than I do – I never want to be the smartest in the room. I always want to listen more than I speak and execute when given opportunities to be great. Small moments create momentum and music business is no different.

Rememeber music is reflection of self and I want my brand to respresent the human spirit and what happens when you unapologetically love something.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love how you put that- more about my art! ugh if I had to define it – I am the leader of a movement, a movement to change how we define rappers/lyricist from Miami. I feel like often times the culture says the city is defined for its parties and glorification of drugs but theres another side to it and I just want to be the voice of the beauty within the struggle.

The one thing that sets me apart is my love for the grind and process – You can’t really control the end result but I focus on the craft . I make music because its makes day to day more bearable. I went a long part of my life pretending to be like everyone else but today I know thats not who or what I represent. To date that without question has been one of the biggest challenges – finding comfort being myself. The best music is honest and vulnerable ( Shoutout Adele)

I am just a guy from Miami who grew up in Miami and loves Miami. Music is my love we are building fans from ground zero and without the support of my famil and friends not sure I’m in this place.

Most of my music is predicated on the quest for your destiny and I believe this is my second chance at a first impression ( btw thats a tetrus bar)

I have spent the last two years simply focused on learning the craft- Shoutout to the Miamibeatwave school for rappers that rap good. We worked on an album to tell a story about the quest. The name of the upcoming project is “Dear Destiny,” its a love story and coversation with my future self, a self evaulation.

What I want the world to know about me – is this is what happens when you dont quit.

Keep working its working.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite spots in the city – well lets talk in terms of a average friday night ( post covid)

Grandopening MIA – Have to check out the local art and history. They specialize in artist from the city and make art for the city.

Mikes @ Ventia – top 5 best dive bars in the city – always have a very different crowd

PHUC YEA – If im eating out out and want some great food – the best in the city is def Phuc yea!

Joes Pizza – if you havent been there you’re missing out!

I don’t really do clubs anymore but wynwood is always a good idea if I get in the mood!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Peace & blessings !

I would have to start with my support system! I have been so lucky to be surrounded by amazing amazing people, people who often believe in me even when I don’t see it in myself.

In no particular order ( don’t want to offend anyone lol)

Miamibeatwave – has changed the way I digest music and helped me currate my sound- he and I met right when I started my musical journey and without his guidance not sure I’d be here

Grand Opening MIA – Shout out to the collective. Jasonwess , Key, Chav – they are the buffer they are the single most talented individuals I’ve ever met. They create culture and have helped me understand that being yourself is the goal, everyone else will adjust.

IAM Iconiic – MY Brethren!! DJ who speaks to the musicality in everything! My performance and shows went up instantly after meeting him. Truly blessed to rock with a gawd!

WallyWest & Folex – feedback is everything, two people who have worked within the music industry and have helped me manuever through the dog days. They have helped me gain access to places I wouldnt of normally gotten.

Shottie – Shottie is the best rapper I’ve ever heard and for some reason supports the movement lol NOBODY TELL HIM I think hes great , i hate that guy – shoutout to du.ivan, kool rula and rest of squad!

ahh the list can go on and on !
