We had the good fortune of connecting with Kostia Lukyniuk and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kostia, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is the consistent quality of service and my network of supporters. I always give myself in full to my audiences in every performance, I cater to everyone’s musical needs tailoring the musical experience to the individual people that are listening. That, in tandem with building and maintaining meaningful relationships, is what helped me succeed.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am performing shows regularly all around the world, revolutionizing the audience’s understanding of the violin, breaking stereotypes and preconceived notions about it. Unlike other musicians, I am always fully present in the moment during my performances, using my instrument to share the love that I have for life, art, and my craft. The most frequent piece of feedback that I get after my shows is: “I’ve never heard violin sound like this!” I use music as a vessel to share the love that I have for life, people, and art. It definitely wasn’t easy to get to this point, I had to go through many challenges. From coming to the US from my home country of Ukraine when I was 18 with nothing and making my way up, to getting out of the warzone in Ukraine just a couple of months ago to survive and follow my dream. Music has literally saved my life since an acceptance letter from Frost School of Music got me out of military conscription in Ukraine. With all of these blessings, it is my mission to share the talent that I have with the world and show that it is possible to love what you do.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to nature – beach, park, forest, etc. In my opinion, there is not much time that we spend in nature nowadays and it is so important to find the time to recharge. After that I’d definitely bring them to a live concert because I know personally what effect good live music has on one’s soul.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
All of the praise goes out to my audience and supporters, who have always been there for me throughout my journey. My network of supporters is my family and nothing else would matter without them.
