Meet Krista | Mobile Sunflower truck owner.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Krista and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Krista, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
One piece of conventional advice I disagree with is, start a business that will make you a lot of money. I believe that if you set out to start a business out of love and passion, success and money will follow. If you love what you do, you will naturally put your all into it and it will show in your work.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I own a mobile sunflower truck and I decided on just sunflowers as they hold a special meaning to me. I will not say it was the best move and some may even say a risky move to limit yourself to only one type of flower to sell, but I never looked at it that way. I was doing this more as a healing journey. I did it my way the entire way along. My husband would suggest certain things and I was always set on my ideas. It was important to me to stick to what I wanted to do, the ideas and the concept so that it would be all mine. This way I would be able to learn from my own mistakes, It’s the only way to grow. I wouldn’t say starting was easy, it’s definitely a process but i think once a person has made up their mind this is what they want to do, they will do it. There will be roadblocks and battles but when you have a passion you just keep pushing. As I always say nothing is easy, if it was we would all do it and that goes for any profession. I overcame challenges most times, by taking a step back, taking some time to calm my mind and find a solution. Perfection is very important for me, so I found myself being challenged by that and I am slowly learning that sometimes a little imperfection is perfection. One thing I would want the world to know is to just be kind, tt sounds cliche but honestly the smallest act of kindness goes a long way. Trust me try it, it feels soooo good 🙂
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in a small city called Coral Springs, Fl. I grew up in Coral Springs, left at around the age of 23 to travel and ultimately settled right back in my hometown. I love it, I love the hometown feeling and I guess the memories that come along with living in the city you grew up in. If my best friend was visiting, we would definitely have fun exploring my small city. I love how many public parks Coral Springs has, perfect for a picnic or just to take a walk. Local coffee shops are starting to pop up which are always fun to go visit and try their new creations. We also have some great restaurants opening up around town such as Hellenic Republic serving amazing greek food.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
In 2012 my mom sadly passed away from breast cancer. My mom was my everything, some would even say my twin flame. It was so much more than just a mother and daughter relationship, our bond was something to be reckoned with. When she passed it shook my world. For 9 years, and yes 9 years I spent soul searching and trying to heal this huge hole that was left in my heart. If you knew my mom she was all sunshine, she radiated light. I wanted to honor her in some way, just could not put into thoughts exactly how i wanted to do that. Growing up I was always a flower child, a hippie at heart. I was always drawn to bright colors and I loved any and everything that had flowers in it and on it lol. I marched to the beat of my own drum and in many ways shied away from the norms. One day while in Folly Beach S.C i sat looking at the ocean and said to myself, i am going to start a flower truck, that is what i am going to do. I wanted to make people happy! It took a few years to finally do it as we were in the process of moving and well…. life. Jan 2021, I said to myself this is it, sink of swim you are doing this. I hit the ground running and never looked back. Life can be hard, we are all going through something and you may never even know. Since starting my truck, I have heard so many stories from people of how sunflowers have impacted their life in some way. Many times I am grateful that I am wearing sunglasses as the tears are flowing. To see a person smile when they see my sunflowers, to see them hold them and their face lights up, I really can’t ask for anymore in this life. I once had a lady around the age my mom would have been come to my truck, and there she was just touching them in wonder. She later went on to tell me that her name was Judith, that was also my mom’s name, it took my breath away for a min and it was just one of those moments that i knew i was right where i needed to be.
