We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristen Toussaint and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kristen, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
It was definitely a challenge in the Beginning. Omg I was all over the place. I spent a lot of my time in church. Tuesday bible study and Sunday at church. Going to church events keeping myself active and around everything good. I may talk about God a lot but he is truly the balance we all need in order to be our greatest self.
I had to learn that you have to put him first. First thing in the morning and first in everything you do. Then you have to put yourself next! Mediating, self care, self love and prioritizing. Then your family! If you’re a wife or mother making sure they are well taken care of, Cooking, Cleaning, Romance, Home work assignments and sport activities. Then work. Making sure you have your to do list, ready to get these assignments done within a reasonable time frame.
Listen some days I feel like super woman with a big S on my chest! I may walk around the house and tell my husband I’m really that girl! Or I’m the best huh bae! It does make me feel amazing when I’m attentive to everyone, guiding them and encouraging to do what it is they have to do in order for them to be great. But Some days I’m in a quiet space and Im completely over it. I may feel overwhelmed, everything is not going as planned, the workload feels a bit much and I’m tired.
You have to pay attention to your body and what your body is telling you. My life is balance around God and my family. Some days I’m off! Many days I’m completely on! I take the necessary time to deal with my mental health. Im an introvert! I feel the most filled up when I am alone and not talking. Furthermore, MY yes are my yes and my no are my nos. Sometimes when the seasons change and schedules change, you have to learn to have meetings with yourself, organize and keep up. I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t have God and a calendar. I literally have 5 calendars to keep me on track. It leaves no more for excuses, just accountability.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

What I provide is encouraging women to look into their mirror and love themselves exactly where they are. I’m extremely proud of my growth and the many women I encourage to find there why while looking their absolute best when getting a hair service done by me. I’m not excited about anything but I’m looking forward to cultivating, redefining and evolving my business to what God wants it to be.
The caliber of strong women I was surrounded by got me to this standpoint of professionalism. I have more developing to do though. No lie. I’m so hungry! I’m such an introvert. I don’t like talking in a crowded room but I love to work. I have a list of goals that got me on a mission to evolve to being a better me.
Nothing comes easy. You’ll always have those moments where you gotta be plugged in with God. You’re going to be challenged. Challenges are good for you. You have to be focused on yourself and your goals that are set in front of you. Gotta be willing to sacrifice moments with a complete line of obedience. You’re going to have moments where you’re completely frustrated and you want to give up but you have to know you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.
Healing and accepting what you can’t change about your past. It has been the most challenging part about growth. Who you are in your personal life can transfer into who you are in your business world if you don’t set boundaries. So you want to make sure you’re separately, working on both and they align for the better good of having peace.
There are so many lessons I have learned and I’m still learning. You have to change your mindset. You have to be open minded to all things that are good and learning new things. You have to read, there is so much wisdom and knowledge that are in books. You have to find all things that bring you joy by putting your phone down. Character and integrity is so important. Define what that means to you. Mind who you are when you’re not at your best. You need God the most in those moments. Mind how you talk to yourself. Mind what you are holding on to in your mind and in your heart. Make sure you’re taking care of yourself on a daily basis. Take time out for you as much as needed. Work towards every task with eagerness and determination to get it done.
Lastly, I want to be a better servant of God. I want to assist and help people in any way I can. Help guide anyone who is feeling lost and is in need of encouraging words.
Also if you guys are looking for quality extensions, we provide them on www.mysignaturelooks.com.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shout out to my homegirl IZZY! I remember calling her one day. I was asking her how she feels about the name MY Signature Styles. Izzy told me no you should call it My Signature Looks. From there I hit up Jessica Boisnord from Precise accounting and tax services to LLC the name. Thank you to her for getting me started.
Marie Civil at SATCONSULTINGS! BIG BUSINESS! BIG shout out to my ACCOUNTANT Marie Civil! She is that GIRL OKAY! She has been my accountant for 6 years. My Signature Looks are still standing, and we survive a pandemic. Nothing but the grace of God! I’m truly grateful for her. Hands down the BEST! She keeps me on my toes. I appreciate her constructive criticism and I truly value her expertise.
Also I want to shout out Jesus’ people ministry ( Richelle Lorde). For her spiritual guidance and what I’ve learned from the church. You can find her on YouTube. You have to acknowledge the strong women around you and the people that helped you along the way.
My Husband, I love you! I would need a section to thank you for continuous support especially in the beginning. I’m looking forward to extending the same support or even more to Point 2 Point Chauffeur Services.
