We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristin Riddle and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kristin, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk is necessary in order to learn and grow. Without risk, I wouldn’t be a business owner, I wouldn’t have been flown to Thailand to work on an international campaign, and I wouldn’t be creating a course for small businesses to learn how to incorporate a more inclusive social media presence (and actually mean it). Embracing the unknown unlocks a side of you that can reach higher heights, allowing you to achieve things you felt weren’t possible. If you have a vision, even if it’s still coming to focus, document your ideas and take the first step in making your vision come to life. Is it a risk? Maybe. But, you won’t know if it’ll be worth it if you don’t try.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Check the Vibes, LLC was the biggest risk to create, and I’m so proud of what it’s become. We cover festivals of all kinds, local events around the city, travel destinations around the world and the hidden gems they have to offer, music artists on the rise, authors and so much more. I took my time with building this brand, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Things happened the way they happened at the right time. My business got to where it is today because I didn’t rush anything or compare its success to anyone else’s.
It wasn’t easy and it took years, but I learned a lot of lessons on what it takes to run a business because I was patient with myself, my vision, and my brand.
My story is one that many can relate to, and it’s why I plan on teaching people what it takes to do this with my company, The Social Talk (https://www.instagram.com/

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Nipsey Hussle’s mindset and his teachings on the importance of building a brand, a legacy and never folding no matter how many times you get knocked down deserve a huge shoutout! His words are what prompted me to follow my dreams and create the platform I have today!
Glo Atanmo has inspired me for years with her honesty on her journey to success, her values, and her brand in general. Check her out!
Gina Gomez & Associates’ resources helped me understand why updating my business strategy was important in order for Check the Vibes to be successful!
