We had the good fortune of connecting with Krystal Marie Balladares and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Krystal Marie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business stemmed from falling in love with the beauty of being in my own, natural state. As women, we constantly struggle with body image and insecurities and I want to be someone’s boost of confidence.
Getting my own treatments done, I fell in love with how healthy skin made me feel, and ultimately, look.
My goal for my business is to instill that same confidence and appreciation for my own clients’ skin.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art- Treating skin and bringing it to its optimal health while boosting client’s confidence in their own bare skin.
My facial treatments are so much more than a mask here, an extraction there. The interaction between my clients and I go so much deeper. Each treatment has intent, a plan, a sense of comfort through touch, and ultimately leads to real results.
I got to where I am now by simply- taking risks. Whatever scared me, is what I went for.
After esthetician school I went from working at a spa, to suddenly leaving and opening my suite which I currently treat from now.
Let me just say, as a 21 year old who drastically changed career paths, this was not easy. It is still not easy.
Balancing a full time job while also being a business owner full time. I choose to take every failure, every set back, as an opportunity to learn and grow.
What other choice is there? Fail and give up on a dream I’ve already worked so hard for? I don’t think so.
What continues to push me is my love and admiration for client interaction and skin health.
It makes it all worth while.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorites places in South Florida, have to be anything near the water or food related!
Some of my favorite spots would have to be Dania Beach, one of my favorite beach spots with great little restaurants right around the corner!
Seaspice, an amazing restaurant in Miami. By the water of course, at night it just feels like one big party while enjoying some of the best food! (I recommend getting seated outside).
Midnight Cookies, one of my go to dessert spots! Right in Fort Laurderdale/ Davie.
Some of the best Ice scream sandwiches and Milkshakes!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shoutout the esthie and skincare community as a whole. Without so many amazing skincare professionals, sharing, creating, and treating skin, I don’t believe I could continue in the industry.
Being an entrepreneur is hard, however trying to build and sustain a business is much more difficult when your environment fails to align with not only your morals, but your dreams.
The skincare community is an ongoing and constantly growing, support system. Where fellow esthie’s or soon to be esthie’s can find inspiration, motivation, knowledge, creativity, and so much more.
