We had the good fortune of connecting with Krystal Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Krystal, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Service.

There are two mottos that really influence the way I live and conduct business:

1. Service Above Self
2. No one has ever become poor by giving

One thing I know for sure is the more people you can help, connect, and serve, the more you will receive. Maybe not immediately, but ALWAYS eventually because life always comes back around.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am the Broker Associate & Chief Shine Officer of ShineGroup; a collective group of professionals working together to help you reach your real estate goals. My real estate team ShineGroup sets a new standard for the ultimate real estate experience, providing a white-glove, hands on approach to customer service that is founded and based in service.

After experiencing the housing frenzy of 2020 and 2021 I found myself burned out and overwhelmed in 2022. I was a solo agent and while I had an assistant and my first teammate I was struggling to keep my head above water. The overwhelm was really taking me away from the part of real estate that I enjoy the most which is the people. In June I decided to move from my beloved boutique brokerage here in Key West, FL to start the next chapter of my real estate career with the fastest growing, most technology forward brokerage on the planet… eXp Realty. It was hard. And I cried. But I knew it was the right decision for the vision I have for my business and thus ShineGroup was born.

Serving and helping people in my community and network is what really lights me up, and my goal in creating ShineGroup is to help both my agents and clients create more time & peace of mind while designing a life that aligns with their long term goals.

10% of all of our gross team commissions are donated to Shoveling Sunshine, Inc; a local 501(c)3 non profit with a mission to empower, support, and foster hope, resilience, and stability in our community.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I always start my day at Keys Coffee Company, they have THE BEST coffee in town (I said what i said). For lunch (and dinner) I’m always a sucker for Salute. Located right on Higgs Beach, having lunch @ Salute has a way of reminding you of why you live here. For happy hour you can find me at Conch Farm (Conch Republic Seafood Company to the non-locals). Best happy hour AND chicken tenders on the island. Need AC, Glitter, and a kick-ass peanut butter martini; check out my favorite hidden gem 22 &Co.

If you come to Key West you have to soak up some sunshine. I love Fort Zachary Taylor but if I have the opportunity to get out on the water the answer is always yes. The sandbars and backcountry are where the real magic happens.

Favorite spots to shop:

Bella Laine
Kirby’s Closet
Sacred Space
Coco’s Monkey

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
