We had the good fortune of connecting with Krystle Caffie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Krystle, how do you think about risk?
In life we must take risks if we want to go to greater heights. Taking risk also allows us to come out of our comfort zone and get a little uncomfortable. In my life as well as in my career I have more than once taken a leap while I was completely terrified.

For example, I relocated to Chicago IL from Detroit MI where I was born and raised without knowing anyone and built a life there. And then for the second time in my life I relocated to another state where I currently am, South Florida. I knew not one person in the entire state. I was so afraid that I almost threw up on the day that I drove down here. I knew how afraid I was, but I also knew that there was a reason for me to be here I just did not know at the time what that reason was. I stepped out made the move and here I am four years later having built a promising life for myself and my 1 year old daughter.

In my career I decided to try entrepreneurship knowing that there are no guarantees. But I know that the rewards are great. I’m taking a risk on working for myself as I want to build something for my daughter to be proud of. I want her to look at me and know that she can do anything she puts her heart and mind into.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have always had a passion for helping people and I operate with a heart of servitude. Having grown up in Detroit, Michigan, I was taught to be down to earth, personable, diligent and humble. I was introduced to the real estate industry during a tough market, the 2008 recession, and really learned a lot about resilience. During this experience, I also realized how much my personable personality attracted others.

At a pivotal point in my life, Krystle relocated to Chicago, Illinois and worked part time as a leasing agent. The bustling fast pace of a large city, coupled with 10 years of Corporate HR and Recruiting experience, I learned how to effectively network and build relationships.

Upon relocating to South Florida, I felt a strong urge to reenter the real estate industry and was very happy to have the opportunity to join Berkshire Hathaway Home Services EWM Realty.
I provide professionalism, excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills to the Fort Lauderdale area and anyone I meet.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them so First Watch for breakfast. But if we wanted to have more of a brunch with mimosas and bellinis, I would take them to Milk Money. Then we would hop over to a farmer’s market on Las olas to shop with some of the local vendors or to the Galleria mall.

We would drive over to Birch State Park to watch the boas and jet skis go by or to Cole Hammock park to sit on a blanket or a bench and have lunch. We would take a stroll around Lauderdale by the Sea and then head to the beach and put our toes in the water.

And as the night starts to wind down, we would head over to Rivertail for some delicious seafood and drinks. But If we were not yet tired or ready to head in, we would head over to Mama Hanks or Batch for a few cocktails

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank the person Nicole Mayne, who referred me for this opportunity. She was there as I was going through a very difficult time and she supported myself and my daughter with so much encouragement and motivation.

She’s a phenomenal leasing agent and customer service provider who I met upon moving into my building. She wrapped her arms of love around myself and my daughter and helped to build me back up. As someone who did not know me at that time to be so encouraging and loving toward me, she was a gift. She’s also phenomenal at her role. She handles her residents and future residents with such class and professionalism that I knew that was the place where I wanted to live. Thank you for believing in me!
