We had the good fortune of connecting with Lamar Riddick and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lamar, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was creating a brand and movement that would evoke change and create conversation that would lead to God and the change of culture. In 2016 Police brutality was peaking. I wrote a song titled ‘Revive’ that was a plea to the culture to find reconciliation during that dark time. The song started conversation about Police brutality and how to properly respond to such events. After all of the reactions I realized that ‘Revive’ was going to be the brand. Out of that I started Revive Collective Music which serves as multi music faceted company. Then I started Revive Collective Apparel which was my official clothing brand.

The brand ‘Revive’ means “Everyone has been given a gift from God that can revive another person’s life”.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a Christian Rapper. I make music to uplift God and to make a positive impact on people. What set’s me apart from others is my ability to entertain listeners but still empower them to be great. The thing I am most proud about is that I Never quit. I continued to follow and enjoy the journey of being an artists until I got an opportunity to do it full time! Professionally, I’ve invested thousands of hours in learning my craft, performing, and teaching it to others. Every job music related or not has given me some type of key to unlock another door to my destiny. At times there were many challenges dealing with people, egos, perspectives and so much more along the way. I learned that God put me in those jobs around those challenges to develop my character. My craft was the fun and easy part, but the crowd was the challenge. Dealing with pressure while still in pursuit of my dream to do music full time.

The biggest lesson I learned along the way is that Everyone has an Island and a boat. Your boat is your day job that you choose to do for survival. Your island is your dream job. Many people jump off of the boat because they are uncomfortable. They begin to swim towards the island and drown because they were impatient. I learned that it’s ok to switch boats but not jump off one with out another one prepared. But ultimately you need to survive in order to get to that island one day.

If there is one thing that I want the world to know is that everything I do is to uplift the Lord and to Revive Culture through music, fashion and business.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would honestly say Scotland! I had the opportunity to travel internationally for the first time in my life in 2022! I would take them to the Edinburgh Castle to see the Military Tattoo where Military groups and Bands from all over the world perform in one night! We would eat unlimited amounts of gelato, fish and chips, and Iron Brew! (Scotland’s famous soda) We’d go to Portobello Beach on the coast of Edinburgh where you can enjoy a beautiful view and amazing food.

We would have to go to the Fringe Festival where comedians, musicians, and other entertainers perform for a 30 day span. Go biking throughout Scotland, take the train to Glasgow, Scotland, and cap the trip off with watching a soccer game.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Well there are a lot of people I can thank. But I will say Jesus and My Family have been a vital role to my success. The faithfulness and loyalty of my friends and family have given me inspiration throughout my career.

Just to name a few schools; Piper High School, Sunrise, FL Bethune Cookman University, Daytona Beach, FL and West Virginia University, Morgantown, WV have all been a major part of my development as a Musician and a Professional.

The Lord has given me a gift that has taken me across the world. He makes all things possible and I am forever grateful for his faithfulness and love.
