Meet Lana Shurdhani | Socks Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lana Shurdhani and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lana, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?

My passion for fashion design has its origin since my childhood when I sewed dresses for my dolls. The desire was very big for design and to own my own fashion brand, but I ended up studying biochemical sciences…
It was Covid, a difficult period for all humanity. Just arrived from Kosovo and not stabilized with life in New York yet.
Isolation during this period caused me anxiety and panic, and I found peace by designing socks.
As I now designing artsy socks in fashion industry was given very little focus, and I knew that one day I would fill that gap by owning a sock business and sharing my experiences through them!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Everything is difficult from the beginning of designing a product to its production. Since I did everything by myself and every detail had to be thought of, the company name, logo, product, packaging, etc, etc. I had a period where I stopped all of my work for a long period of time, even though I was at the end, and the remaining part was opening an online store,photoshoot the product, editing photos and opening social networks. The lessons that I’ve learnt along the way was that to not set a deadline for a certain goals, that deadline can cause so much stress, but enjoying the process working every day even if some days a lack of motivation is present…

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My biggest supporter is my husband who has helped me both emotionally and financially to realize my dream of having a fashion business.
