We had the good fortune of connecting with Laniece Spivey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laniece, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting this business was for my kids. I wanted to create a stream of income for them to understand the process of having their own business and creating generational wealth.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
T3Rentalz is a party rental company that provides machinery for different functions. We cater to all events but specializes in kids events. We provide custom items that are handcrafted for your party needs. What set us aside from everyone else is that we are a company for kids by kids. We understand what makes kids parties fun and exciting. We can create any theme that a child loves. Was it easy? No it wasn’t easy being a single mother with three kids, working a full time job, and starting my kids business was very hard and stressful. I had to overcome many challenges with the help and support of friends and family but mostly my kids. My kids learned how to operate all the machines and learned how to create customized items which made things a lot easier and faster. I’ve learned many lessons along the way such as its ok to say no and that I’m booked for that day and can’t squeeze you in. I want the world to know our name and that we will be coming to a city near you!!!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would go eat at Cheddars’s Scratch Kitchen their food is so good especially the butter croissants with the honey. I also would go to Rustic Inn Crab house, I love seafood they have the best seafood spaghetti. We would go hang out at the Plug-In for a night of karaoke and sing our hearts out lol

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout out God for blessing me with a strong support system of family and friends. He has given me strength on the days I was weak and wanted to give up. He heard my prayers asking him to bring people in my life that is for me. God has blessed me so in so many ways that I’m so humbled and grateful for his mercy. I would like to shout out my kids. Thank you for giving me the motivation to push harder. I would also like to shout out my older sister Dr. Le’China Spivey owner of Forever Waisted Fajas for believing in me and giving me a chance to display my talents in her store. My sister has been there with me every step of the way. Every machine I needed she purchased with no problem she tested my skills and showed me that I can do anything I put my mind too. My sister has straighten my crown and dried my tears plenty of times telling me I got this don’t give up. I would also like to shout out Kemisha Brown owner of Londyns Locker for telling me to stop playing and wasting all the talent that I have and go for it. She came into my life and has been nothing but a blessing supporting me and sharing my stuff on social media. Last but not least I want to shout out my clients for believing in me and allowing me to apart of their special moments in life. They understand my style and allow me to be me.
