We had the good fortune of connecting with Lara Vincent and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lara, how do you think about risk?
I believe in reframing risks as opportunities for growth, exploration, and innovation, rather than as limiting boundaries. As Pema Chodron wisely stated, ‘fail, fail again, fail better,’ emphasizing the importance of resilience in the face of challenges. Whenever I encounter hesitation towards perceived risks, I maintain a sense of curiosity and openness to new possibilities.
Reflecting on the launch of Broken Telephone, I acknowledge that it wasn’t without its imperfections. Initially, I held myself back by striving for an unattainable standard of perfection. However, after a year of deliberation, in October 2022, I made the decision to launch despite its imperfections. This experience has taught me that embracing imperfection is essential for progress. For me, embracing messy forward motion is far more valuable than striving for perfect stagnation.”
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Broken Telephone, a kids clothing line focused on classic, cool, awesome clothes was founded in 2022. Prioritizing sustainability, the label strives to contribute to a more eco-conscious and responsible fashion industry.
Our small-scale manufacturing minimizes environmental impact, offering an alternative to today’s hyper-globalized, mass-produced fashion.
Along side the house brand we’ve curated a collection of rare vintage children’s pieces, that embody the ultimate vision we have for the company. The inventory will be forever revolving with hand selected one-of-a kind pieces.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My children, who have been my greatest source of inspiration and motivation in starting my kids clothing business.
