We had the good fortune of connecting with Lashicia “So Shic” Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lashicia “So Shic”, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my own business, started when I was forced to step down from working and becoming a full time stay at home mother. I was feeling hopeless and useless. Being a mother is rewarding, but sometimes you still have an empty void. I pull out an old recipe book and began baking and it’s been up ever since.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m the owner of a delicious sweets business, where I specialize in a variety of desserts. What sets me apart from others is my business is family owned and have plans to live on through generations to come. I am where I am today because you of determination. This has not been an easy road and many times I’d thought of hanging up my hat, I’m still overcoming challenges being that I’m self taught and that take patience. Some lessons I’ve learned along the way is to blockout negative comments and keep your eyes on the gold you have set an place and let NOTHING get in the way. I would like the world to know that SO SHIC CHEESECAKES AND CREATIONS is here to stay and we are on our way. So many new desserts are on the way keep your eyes open. My brand will be everywhere!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Hmmmm, I’d probably go out to eat down in las Olas , and find a place to go dancing because I love to dance. Then we’d probably end the night back home doing some karaoke and wine.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost I’d like to give honor to God, next to my handsome husband and our 4 beautiful children and mother Shlonda Collins. Also my Late grandmother Minster Ora Lee Collins and Aunt Teresita Denise Collins, I miss them both dearly. Last but not least my genuine family and friends that have supported me from the very beginning.
