Meet Laura Chaves and Maisha Mitchell | Moms On Caffeine Founders

We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura Chaves and Maisha Mitchell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Laura and Maisha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Moms On Caffeine, stemmed from intimate conversations that we both had as boy moms while sipping our coffee on our commutes to work. What started as casual chats soon revealed something deeper—we were touching on topics that felt both meaningful and often unspoken, yet likely relatable to so many other moms out there.
We created Moms On Caffeine as a passion project that blends our love of coffee with our journey through motherhood. Our goal is to build a community where moms can connect, feel seen, and have honest conversations about balancing motherhood, life, and self-care.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Outside of Moms On Caffeine, we both work in corporate roles—one in the sports industry and the other in luxury hospitality. While we love the stage of life we’re in, we found ourselves craving deeper connection with other moms—especially those who might be navigating similar challenges, joys, and in-between moments of motherhood.
We noticed a gap in support and conversation once moms move beyond the infant and toddler stages. There also seemed to be a divide between the experiences of stay-at-home moms and working moms. We wanted to bridge that gap by creating a community where all moms—no matter their season of motherhood—feel seen, supported, and unapologetically show up as they are.
Moms On Caffeine is about more than motherhood—it’s about reminding moms that it’s okay to pursue their passions, to find joy beyond the daily routines, and to have honest conversations about what it really looks like to balance life, work, and self-care. Our story is here to inspire others to lean into their truth and build community while doing it – of course, with a cup of coffee.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Miami is such an exciting place to visit and it’s bustling with new coffee shops everywhere.
The best week with Moms On Caffeine would start with sunrise yoga at the beach, followed by a coffee date at Cafe Bastille on Miami Beach. In the afternoon, a little shopping on Lincoln Road with a stop at Nespresso to refuel. For dinner, Wynwood and the Design District is full of restaurants with cuisine from all over, and walking through the art filled streets is a great way to end the perfect Miami day.
It wouldn’t be a vacation in Miami without starting one of your days with a cup of coffee at La Colada Gourmet in Little Havana, followed by a drive through Brickell and Downtown and ending the day with happy hour at Sugar at the EAST Hotel.
Another day we would stop for breakfast at Crema Gourmet on the way to Pinecrest Gardens Farmers Market and end the afternoon at the playground at Pinecrest Gardens.
On the last day, we would head over to Brewing Buddha for one of their signature lattes (ask for the banana pudding lattes) and enjoy the rest of the day at Tinez Farms.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We all hear the phrase “it takes a village” and that’s exactly what motherhood is. We would like to recognize all the moms in our village that have one way or another helped with an advice, listening ear, or extra set of hands. They have not only been an inspiration to us as mothers in our motherhood journey, but have also motivated us to follow our dreams in creating this community.
